This week pastors from all over the world will gather on the West Rand, to take part in Witnessing Week International conference “Get Together” from 4 to 6 April at the Maranatha Retreat in Roodekrans, Roodepoort.

The conference will be led by Evangelist Andries and Debbie Pelser from Roodepoort, South Africa. The couple has visited approximately 7 countries per year, over the past 11 years, proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ in open air crusades. They have ministered to over a million people during the time in open air crusades and hundreds and thousands of people have been saved. Countless others have been ministered to via the LTV programme, which is broadcasted on a weekly basis in Uganda and also viewed through online platforms.

The seed was planted in 2017 when Evangelist Andries Pelser and his wife Debbie took a flight from Lanseria to Cape Town. In the airplane, across the row in which Andries and Debbie were seated, sat a lady with Muslim attire. The Holy Spirit directed Andries towards the Muslim lady and asked what he saw, he replied, “A Muslim lady”. The Holy Spirit then directed Andries to look ahead of him at the other passengers, asking the same question. Andries replied, “Only people”.

By the time Andries disembarked the plane in Cape Town, he knew that God was speaking to him about witnessing. God also gave Andries an idea to assist people, who find it difficult to bear testimony; either because they are too shy or they don’t know how to start the conversation. Andries started a campaign to help provide people with the opportunity to tell their story as to why they believe. The idea is that during the week of Pentecost (as it’s the feast of the harvest); Christians wear a token with a cross on and on the cross it is written “I believe, ask me why?” The person is thus given an opportunity to bear testimony, which could have various results of which salvation is the ultimate goal.

Acts 1:8 reads “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Witnessing is not an option, but an instruction from God. It’s part of the great commission and part of the mission of every child of God.

During 2017, Andries engaged with pastors from 11 countries, who participated in Witnessing Week during Pentecost with great results and testimonies. In 2018, the number grew to 22 countries, which included USA, Nepal, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, India, Pakistan, and Rwanda to mention a few. This year 2019, Andries is aiming at 50 countries of which 31 countries have already committed to participate. By the year 2020 Andries hopes for a hundred countries’ participation and by 2021, he wants worldwide participation.

In an attempt to extend the vision of the Witnessing Week Conference and in order to empower Pastors from participating countries, Andries and Debbie arranged for the Pastors from participating countries, to visit South Africa from 4-6 April 2019, to attend the Witnessing Week Conference.

Pastors will be accommodated at Maranatha Retreat in Roodekraans. On Thursday 4 April between 9am – 10am, there will be an Opening Ceremony to welcome the pastors and thereafter a full programme of discussing and planning the actions to be taken to get all churches on board during the three days. On the evening of 5 April there will also be a Gala Evening where other guests supporting Witnessing Week are also invited to.

Each of the pastors visiting from 4-6 April will become the representatives of Witnessing Week to extend this vision to all churches in their respective countries.

Andries believes that this vision is from God and it will contribute towards worldwide revival.
