The Rain Fell is Owen Captain’s personal account of surviving the devastating KwaZulu-Natal floods of April 2022. Yet this is not simply a record of disaster. It is a testimony of what happens when familiar Scriptures are tested in real life. Captain writes about rising waters, the loss of neighbours and friends, and the fear of seeing everything around him shaken. He also recounts a violent home invasion and the lasting effect these experiences had on his family.

Built on the Rock
At the centre of the book is Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 7. The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds beat against the house, yet it stood because it was founded on the Rock. Captain returns to this truth throughout his story, showing that faith does not spare believers from hardship. Christ remains their sure foundation within it. His account is honest about fear, grief, and unanswered questions, while pointing readers towards God’s protection, peace, and sustaining grace.

A testimony worth sharing
Captain wrote because he believed that God’s work in his family should not remain a private testimony. The Rain Fell will speak especially to readers facing loss, uncertainty, or circumstances beyond their control. It offers a sincere reminder that God has not abandoned us in the storm and that restoration is possible, even when healing takes time
