ACDP leader Rev Kenneth Meshoe recently said that:
“The ACDP is extremely disturbed by a recent news report in which some Cape Flats gangsters attribute police corruption as a major reason for the ‘success of their business’.
In the news report, a gangster claims that the police do drugs, drink alcohol and borrow money from them. And in return, they ask the police to inform them of when, and at what time they will conduct raids.
Could this be the reason why police do not win the war against crime?
The allegations made by some gangsters are of an extremely serious nature, and the ACDP calls on the minister of police to launch an investigation into these claims.
We are of the opinion that until corruption is rooted out of the police service, the war against drugs and gangsterism will not be won.”
