I recently partnered with my mother to start a Kingdom business. Seeking guidance, I reached out to Erin, a close friend of my mom’s and someone I deeply admire for her wisdom. Erin’s business and ministry success has always inspired me, and during our conversation, she shared an important piece of advice, “Get a copy of the book Jesus, CEO by Laurie Beth Jones and study it.” Her words ignited a determination in me to find the book and apply its teachings.
An unexpected nudge
While staying in Cape Town, just a few days after our conversation, I woke up one morning with a clear thought, “I want to get Jesus, CEO today and share it with Erin.” Later that day, I walked out of my apartment to the nearby SPAR. Outside the store, a man was selling second-hand books. A box labelled “Christian books” caught my eye. Without thinking of the book I was looking for, I peeked inside.
A miraculous find
To my astonishment, the first book I laid my eyes on was Jesus, CEO. I couldn’t believe it. “No way, God – this is You!” I thought. What further added to my amazement was when the man said paradoxically he would exchange the book for cat food or R50. (I had struggled to find a copy of this book anywhere, and the only version I had found online was almost R600!)
Sharing the testimony of God’s provision
Filled with gratitude, I purchased the book and sent Erin a picture, sharing the miraculous way in which I found it. She encouraged me to send my testimony in to JOY! Magazine as an encouragement. This moment reminded me that God orders our steps in unexpected ways. He provides exactly what we need, right when we need it.
