As tensions escalate in the Middle East, the ANC regime’s bizarre and contradictory foreign policy is coming under increasing scrutiny by western democracies. South Africa’s close ties with authoritarian regimes like China, Russia, Cuba and Iran is raising red flags.
The ANC regime steadfastly refused to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine despite thousands of innocent civilians being killed including many children. The SA government abstained from voting in three UN resolutions including one that “demanded full humanitarian access & protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel in Ukraine.”
President Cyril Ramaphosa’s stated defence was “that international criticism and economic pressure against Russia may succeed in ending hostilities, but will not result in lasting peace. Long-term peace will be only be achieved through dialogue and negotiations.”
“Ramaphosa also opposes criticising Russia on the grounds that South Africa’s neutral stance will place it in a stronger position to help mediate an end to the conflict. The benefit of neutrality, he says, “is that we can talk to both sides.”
Contrast the ANC regime’s response to Russia’s war on Ukraine with the Israel, Hamas conflict. Greg Mills and Ray Hartley writes, “two weeks after the (7 October 2023) Hamas terror attack on Israel, Pandor visited Iran where she met with that country’s president, Ayatollah Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to “convey a message from President Cyril Ramaphosa.”
The article warns of, “the symbolism of International Relations and Cooperation Minister, Naledi Pandor’s phone call with Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh a mere 10 days after the terror attack. In a statement issued a day after the meeting with Hamas, that organisation gleefully reported Pandor had expressed support for the attack, “Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.”
A statement issued by the ANC regime said, “South Africa have been consistent in their support to Palestine and have never deviated from the belief President Mandela held, that until the people of Palestine are free, South Africa will not be fully free.”
The ANC regime severed diplomatic relations with Israel citing its “occupation of Palestinian land” but conducted military drills with Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. Pandor also had numerous friendly meetings with her Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.
But if the SA government is genuinely concerned with the plight of the Palestinian people, shouldn’t it stay true to its stated foreign policy stance and remain neutral to place it in a stronger position to help mediate an end to the Israel, Hamas conflict? It was Ramaphosa who said, “long-term peace will only be achieved through dialogue and negotiations.”
The SA government lost all credibility as a “neutral mediator” when it charged Israel with crimes of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza while simultaneously refusing to support UN resolutions demanding a ceasefire in the Russia, Ukraine war where claims of torture and genocide have emerged.
In February this year, ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula led a delegation to Moscow to participate in a “forum to combat Western neo-colonialism.” Interestingly, the ANC’s slavish submission to Western neo-colonialism (and its millions of dollars) is most evident in its implementation of abortion, LGBTQ and gender ideology in SA’s education system.
The article says, “South Africa’s claim to be the torch-holder for a wave of democratisation no longer holds. The anti-apartheid struggle was all about democracy promotion, and yet we have only engaged with human rights on a selective basis and where it suits our ideological interests.” (SA’s strong ties with authoritarian China, Cuba and Iran proves this).
“South Africa’s friendship with authoritarians has been accompanied by limp enthusiasm for promoting democracy, whether in neighbouring Zimbabwe or further afield in Africa.”
The US House of Representatives debated a review of SA’s relationship with the USA in light of the ANC regime’s close ties with Russia, China and Iran. SA, US relations is predicted to deteriorate dramatically if Donald Trump wins the White House in November.
Relations between the ANC regime and US legislators are already souring. US lawmakers have written to President Ramaphosa, “threatening consequences” if SA citizens are arrested for serving in the Israeli army. The letter follows an announcement by Naledi Pandor at a Palestinian solidarity event that SA will arrest citizens for serving in the IDF.
The ANC regime’s claims of promoting and upholding human rights is a farce. It is incapable of providing basic services like reliable energy and water to its citizens causing untold harm and misery to millions. More than 8 million children in South Africa suffer from severe malnutrition while the ANC mercilessly loots hundreds of billions from state coffers.
The SA government gives millions to authoritarian regimes like Cuba – where human rights are non-existent – while its citizens languish in chronic poverty. As a result, the ANC regime’s miserable domestic & foreign policy is South Africa’s surest path to a rogue state.
