Prominent and beloved evangelist and pastor, Angus Buchan, as well as his wife Jill, have both tested positive for the coronavirus.

Buchan came into contact with Covid-infected persons at a church gathering in the Free State, prior to Ramaphosa’s notice to ban gatherings of 100 people or more.

Buchan was part of the congregation that took part in the Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast, which was hosted by the Divine Restoration Ministries in Bloemfontein.

On a statement released through Buchan’s Facebook and Instagram pages, which has since been removed, Buchan mentioned that although his results are positive, he is asymptomatic.

“After speaking to my private physician this morning – who has been in contact with the laboratory that holds our results, we received greater clarity on our results. We had indeed tested positive for the coronavirus.

“However we are not showing symptoms and are in good health. As per the regulations surrounding the virus, anyone that has been in contact with us needs to isolate themselves and if they start to display symptoms, they would need to get tested for coronavirus,” said Buchan.

“We apologise for the confusion and will pray for the good health of all those who have been in contact with us.”

ACDP leader Rev Kenneth Meshoe was also in attendance at the event in the Free State, and has also undergone tests. In a statement released by the ACDP, Rev Meshoe’s results, as well as ACDP MP Steve Swart, have both come back as positive for the virus.

Meshoe was among leaders of political parties who met with Ramaphosa in Cape Town last week. Ramaphosa’s coronavirus test has come back negative.

Please continue to keep these men of God in your prayers.
