Because of their open declaration as believers, their extended family no longer accept them and has cut off all ties. Even friends and neighbours no longer treat them the same as before. They often criticise and call them derogatory names.
As a result, Kakon and her family decided to move away from their shared family compound to live in a place where people did not know that they are converts.

Even after the move, all did not go well. Kakon’s 15-years old son could not accept his parents conversion and continued to remain a Muslim.
Kakon shared that there are times when her faith in God is weakened. “But God reminds me in Philippians 4:19 that ‘He will meet all my needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.’”

Back in 2015, Kakon got the opportunity to attend an ‘Ananna Discipleship Training’ program provided by Open Doors. “I shared my prayer request for my son with the Ananna sisters, and they all prayed for him,” she said.
From the knowledge she gained during the program, she shared with her son teachings from the Bible. “I told him that in our all problems, we can depend on God.”
Her husband and Kakon would both read the Bible out loud so that their son would hear the Word of God, whether he wanted to or not! Because of this, he began to know more and more about Jesus Christ and God’s plan of salvation for all mankind.
And slowly, after 10 long years of prayer, her son changed his mind and decided to accept Jesus.

In 2017, Kakon graduated from the ‘Ananna Discipleship Training’ having completed all 10 modules involved in the program. Her persistence and hard work paid off. She then started to disciple others.
Straightaway she setup her own Ananna class with 12 students. One of her students, Monifa*, shared, “I came to know about Isa (Jesus) from Kakon. I was short tempered and because of this, I would often have arguments with my husband and in-laws. But, through the class, I began to change. I felt an internal peace in my mind. And this change was noticed by my husband and his family.”
“So my husband asked me what was the cause of such a change. I told him it was Jesus who changed my attitude and gave me peace. And that He is the only route to salvation.”
“After that, my husband did not forbid me to continue with the Ananna class, rather he encouraged me to attend. He also showed interest in knowing more about Jesus. Please pray for me so I can change my life to be more meaningful, and that my family will receive the salvation of Jesus.”

Another conflict arose in Kakon’s life – her only brother decided to cut ties with her because of her conversion.
In the new place where they had moved, initially people did not know she and her family had converted to Christianity. But, because of her Ananna discipleship class, they found out, including her brother. “I tried to talk to him and help him to understand why we follow Jesus. But he doesn’t want to hear nor listen to anything I say,” shares Kakon.
Kakon relies on God for her strength, and she determinedly holds onto verses in the Bible such as Deuteronomy 31:8, which says ‘The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.’
“Please pray for my brother so that God will change his mind and show him the true way to life. Pray that I can share and witness to my sisters and brother so they can also receive eternal life,” she said. “I will continue to trust God because He will make all the impossible, possible” .
