Survivalist and author Bear Grylls recently shared that he was baptised in the Jordan River. This sacred site holds great significance as it is where Jesus himself received baptism from John the Baptist.

Bear Grylls enthusiastically shared this momentous occasion on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), expressing, “It had always been a dream of mine to get in the water that Jesus was baptised in by my hero John the Baptist. The story is so amazing, & it seems wherever Jesus went, that new birth, new life, a new vision followed. Luke (in the bible) was probably a Syrian doctor before he met Jesus. He writes a reliable, poignant account of his life. It’s short. I like it. #adventure #life #nevergiveup”

Grylls, best known for starring in the show, “Man vs. Wild” is outspoken about his Christian faith. Grylls serves as an ambassador for the Alpha Course, a program that introduces individuals to the fundamental principles of Christianity.

In a recent interview with the Christian Post, Grylls stirred headlines by expressing his belief “Jesus would struggle with 99 per cent of churches nowadays.” In his view, Christians should prioritise cultivating a personal relationship with God over adhering to religious rituals.

He stated, “Our job in life is to stay close to Christ and drop the religious, drop the fluff, drop the church if you need to because that means so many different things to different people anyway. Keep the bit of church which is about community and friends and honesty and faith and love. All the masks, performances, music and worship bands and all of that sort of stuff—I don’t think Christ would recognise a lot of that.”

In a world where celebrities are alienated and shunned for standing firm in God’s word, Bear is unwavering in his faith. Pray for this mighty man of faith as he sets out to explore and enjoy this beautiful creation that God has blessed us with.
