As responsible citizens, Christians must strive to honour God in all areas of life. We are to oppose evil and work for righteousness. Christians therefore have a Biblical duty to vote.
Amidst all the electioneering, unrealistic promises, media performances, slogan shouting, and empty rhetoric, it is very difficult to maintain an objective perspective on reality. Many even find it difficult to discern between what is right and what is wrong during election campaigns.

Be careful to not merely listen to what is said, but to observe what is done. Cut through the vast volume of verbiage and evaluate each party and candidate in your area on the crucial Biblical issues:
- Does the candidate, and his/her party, acknowledge the authority of Almighty God? (Exodus 20:3, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 127:1; Isaiah 9:6-7, Isaiah 33:22; Matthew 28:18)
- Is the candidate a moral, trustworthy person of integrity? (Proverbs 16:32; 1 Timothy 3:4-5)
- Does the party permit a free and open market economy based on private ownership and individual enterprise, or does it hold to the discredited socialist strategies of state interference, central control and nationalisation (theft)? (Exodus 20:15-17, Leviticus19:15, Proverbs 10:2-4, Matt. 25:14-27, 2 Thess. 3:10)
- Has the party upheld and voted to protect the right to life of pre-born babies? (Proverbs 6:16-17 & 24.11, 31:8, Matt. 18:10-14)
- Does the party uphold the sanctity of human life by punishing all murderers with the Biblical sentence of capital punishment? (Genesis 9:6, Exodus 21:12-16, Leviticus 24:17-22, Num. 35: Romans 13:4)
- Does the party uphold the principle that education – including teachers and textbooks – must be controlled by parents? (Deuteronomy 6:2-9, Psalm 78:4-7 & 111:10, Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4)
- Does the party oppose the granting of special privileges to perverts (otherwise known as “homosexual rights”) and the erosion of the Biblical definition of marriage as lifelong partnership between a man and a woman? (Genesis 19, Numbers 15:15, Romans 1:24-32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, Revelation 21:8)
- Does the party uphold Biblical publications control to protect society from the exploitative pornography industry? (Psalm 101:3, Proverbs 14:34, Luke 17:1-2, Mark 12:31, Galatians 5:13, Colossians 3:5-8, 1 Peter 2:16)

JOY! has amended this chart, which was supplied to us from the SA Voter’s Guide website, to include the ACDP’s updated stance on Affirmative Action. We have spoken to Reverend Kenneth Meshoe directly and have clarified the ACDP’s stance on Affirmative Action, which is as follows:
We as a party acknowledge the need for repentance from all the generations that gained and are still gaining, even indirectly, from the race-based apartheid system.We also acknowledge the need for forgiveness from those who suffered under it and continue to suffer because of it. However, Affirmative Action, as it is being applied currently, is undeniably racist in its foundation. It has in its application been approached incorrectly and created further institutionalised inequality.
The ACDP would change the focus of Affirmative Action from previously disadvantaged to disadvantaged individuals. Because of the historic and current racial and socio-economic nature of poverty, the real focus of an Affirmative Action policy, based on disadvantaged, would not change dramatically from one that is race-based. However, this change in focus, away from the current racially discriminatory nature of Affirmative Action, will make it a social welfare issue.
Fair and adequate restitution, addressing the multi-generational wrongs of the apartheid system, is a very complicated and emotive issue that can be divided into the two broad categories of Social Restitution and Financial Restitution.
The ACDP recommends a change in the application of this newly focused model of Affirmative Action, to one that facilitates personal empowerment of the currently disadvantaged, thereby helping them to compete equally in the market place.
Affirmative Action should aim to make people self-sufficient, to contribute to the running of the country in all its sectors. We should not have it written into the Constitution as a permanent right. This will only be counter-productive. The ACDP will therefore amend the Equality Act insofar as it conflicts with ACDP policy.
Furthermore, the ACDP recommends the creation of a substantial Apartheid Restitution Fund that firstly, focuses on the social redress of the wrongs of apartheid by subsidising primary, secondary and tertiary education opportunities, and that provides entrepreneurial support.
Secondly, this fund should provide the backing for a Financial Restitution Claims process.
Lastly, the ACDP would change the name of Affirmative Action to something that reflects the nature of this social upliftment and redress exercise, such as Apartheid Restitution, which also automatically leans a timeline to this process.

Thank you for this info. I agree with ACDP on everything except 1 thing: how can we decide to kill another human being that Christ died for too – because then Moses and Apostle Paul should have been killed too isn’t it? I am just trying to understand this so a sincere response would be appreciated.
This is a FALSE representation of the ACDP position on Free market economy, and most definitely on the issue of discrimination based on race.
I would like to see a fair and truthfull comparison of what the parties stand for ando not agree with.
SAD that even they hold on the past of apartheid.
Christians must forgive,so they intend to continue with the punishing of the minority in South Africa.
I honestly don’t know who to vote for as they all hold on the past making the future bleak and uncertain —-i pray daily for the rapture.
