Christian women in Pakistan must overcome impossible odds to succeed in their society. Cast aside for both their gender and status as a religious minority, education and employment are difficult to come by. In December 2018, ICC learned of four women who were denied admittance to a local vocational school because of their faith.
In order to support these women ICC enrolled them in a 10-month beautician training course. This program will allow the women to grow in their cosmetology skills and learn alongside other women facing similar challenges.
Furthermore, the women received equipment, including cosmetic tools and hygienic kits, so that they can eventually develop their own small businesses.
One participant in the training shared, “We never hoped or expected to get so much in life. It is God’s providence. He has listened to my cry. ICC and [partner] have played a great role in our lives. We thank them wholeheartedly. We shall make use of the opportunity to prosper and grow in life. We shall be happy and prosperous girls in the future.”
With the skills and tools to develop their own small businesses, these women will be able to provide for their families, clearing the cloud of financial worries from overhead. They will also be able to operate their businesses on their own terms, without worrying about employers who look down on them for their Christian faith.
Thank you for stepping in to help us support these young women who are working diligently to serve both their families and communities.
