WIZO Cape Town (Women’s International Zionist Organisation) had the privilege of hosting, on Zoom, guest speaker Rev Rebecca Brimmer, International President and CEO of the Christian organisation Bridges for Peace.

Rebecca has been a resident of Israel for more than 30 years and joined Bridges for Peace in 1993. Since then, she has used her strong leadership and management skills to elevate Bridges For Peace to its current position of prominence as a strong and committed friend to Israel and the Jewish people. She has fostered and built meaningful and caring relationships between Christians and Jews in Israel and around the world to help counter antisemitism and support Israel’s right to exist.

The Israel Allies Foundation, who’s mission it is to mobilise political support for Israel, published in 2021, its second annual exclusive list of Israel’s Top 50 Christian Allies worldwide. Christian leaders who were selected to be a part of this exclusive list conveyed their deep love and support for the State of Israel. Rebecca was placed as number 18 on this list in 2021 and number 13 on the list in 2020.  This is an astounding achievement and a true example of a great friend and guardian of Israel.

Rebecca was quoted as saying “As a Bible believing Christian, I love and support Israel because I love and support the God of Israel.” This means so much to the Jewish people as people like Rebecca, who are believers and activists with front row seats and exposure to the world, stand up for Israel. 

Rebecca shared her personal story with WIZO and why she chose to devote her life to standing with Israel and serving the Jewish People. She also gave us an insight into our Christian allies and how Bridges for Peace promotes Israel worldwide.

WIZO would like to thank two extraordinary people who initiated and made this talk possible; Chris Eden, the South African National Director of Bridges for Peace and Cecilia Eden who also serves on the South African Board. Not only do they lead Bridges For Peace, but they are also personal friends of WIZO. Cecilia is an active WIZO member and always supports and attends meetings and events.

We thank Rebecca for giving of her time to speak to us and for her constant commitment to, and prayers for, the safety of Israel and its people.  We are proud and privileged to have Rebecca in our corner. WIZO South Africa is incredibly grateful for all the support and commitment we have received from Bridges for Peace and we look forward to working together in the future.
