“Encourage one another and build each other up…” – 1 Thessalonians 5:11, NIV

I am deeply grateful to have been continually reminded and challenged by the above Scripture throughout my life. We are all called to be exhorters – to lift others up and help them along the way.

Why encouragement matters
In this fast-paced, competitive, and often self-centred world, everyone needs encouragement and guidance. Many around us are quietly carrying hurt, anger, confusion, failure, and difficult circumstances. Where do they turn? They should find help and hope among God’s people.

Our calling
As children of God, we hold the answer – Jesus Christ. By the Holy Spirit’s leading, we can bring God’s wisdom, peace, and love to those who are hurting. The Lord has chosen and empowered us to be His ambassadors – to strengthen and build His body, the Church, by encouraging one another in love and faith daily. Ask the Lord whom to encourage today – then do it.

Read the nativity account together, worship with your family, and rest in the Good News that Christ has come – and He is with us. May His peace steady your heart, and His joy strengthen you today and into the year ahead.
