The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) deployed to Baltimore after a 984-foot cargo ship lost power and rammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge early Tuesday morning.

Leveling the bridge and sending eight people into the frigid Patapsco River, the tragic event has left six people presumed dead—with two people rescued.

The news devastated community members and families, some of whom waited hours at a convenience store near the entrance of the bridge for word about their missing loved ones.

“I think many of us seeing this video are in shock and disbelief over what happened. We are praying for the families of the victims, survivors, law enforcement, and the community,” said Josh Holland, international director of the BG-RRT.

“We sent our crisis-trained chaplains to comfort, pray, and share God’s love with those who have been impacted by this horrific tragedy.”

Please pray for the families who are mourning and for the hurting people of Baltimore, Maryland during this tragic time. Lift up those who are working around the clock during this time of recovery.
