When Christian singer and songwriter Lauren Daigle was 15 years old, she was diagnosed with cytomegalovirus. The illness kept her at home and in isolation — in quarantine — for about two years.
Daigle’s mom tried to keep her daughter from slipping into depression and paid for voice lessons. “And I fell in love, it became my healing,” the “You Say” songwriter told Z100 Studios last year. “From that space, that’s where those songs come from. I feel like that experience, I could live a lifetime off of just those two years.”
Lauren’s advice from last year rings especially true now, as we all are in this period of isolation during the coronavirus outbreak. “What you think might overcome you, is actually just the place you’re supposed to launch from.”
