This is my first newsletter for 2024. Arlene and I wish you and your precious family a blessed, fruitful and prosperous New Year. May God grant you according to your heart’s desire and fulfill all your purpose. Together, you and I must advance God’s purposes in South Africa in 2024.

The New Year got off to a promising start for the global battle to defend, protect and promote faith, family and freedom.  I received an invitation from C-Fam to participate and speak at a major event at the United Nations (UN) in New York on 9 Feb – to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family during the UN Commission on Social Development event.

I will represent (South) Africa and will address the topic, “The Significance of the Family to Poverty Eradication in Africa.” The primary objective is to inform and influence UN representatives about family orientated policies and afford member states an opportunity to exchange views and best practices. The event’s pro-family theme and speeches will be broadcast live on UN web TV.

The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 1994 “The International Year of the Family” in resolution 44/82. The year 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of that observance. The family is recognized in the UN ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights’ as “the natural and fundamental group unit of society” and “entitled to protection by society and the State.”

Family Policy Institute (FPI) was also invited to participate in the “UN Commission on the Status of Women” (CSW68) 11 – 22 March 2024 in New York. The “UN Family Rights Caucus” urged international pro-family organizations to participate in this major UN event to effectively counter the anticipated anti-faith and anti-family onslaught by global feminist and sexual rights radicals.

I also received a full scholarship to attend the “Shepherds Conference” at Grace Community Church in Los Angeles 6 – 8 March which entails 3 days of intensive training by some of the world’s top Bible expositors. Arlene and I will visit our son, Jared and his family while in LA. From there I will travel to New York to join my pro-family allies for a week of vital work at UN CSW68.

FPI is prepared for the battle for faith, family and religious freedoms in South Africa. My international work at the UN is critical because most of the anti-family policies adopted by the ANC regime is influenced by UN agencies – like the single “Marriage Bill” that seeks to redefine monogamous man, woman marriage in law to include same-sex and transgender unions.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) called on world leaders to “counteract conservative opposition” to sexual rights and to “enact progressive legislation” as a “human rights imperative,” including repealing laws that criminalize homosexuality, sex work and HIV transmission. The “Global Pandemic Treaty” is its mechanism for global policy control.

This year, the failed ANC regime will attempt to fast track several bad pieces of legislation through Parliament to advance its nefarious ideological agenda. The “BELA Bill”, the “Hate Crimes Bill”, the “Sexual Offences Amendment Bill” that seeks to legalize the entire sex-industry, The single “Marriage Bill,” and the sexualization of children and promotion of radical transgender ideology in the public schooling system must be vigorously opposed by an active citizenry.

2024 is also an Election year. I have much work to do this year to promote desperately needed political change in South Africa. This means I will travel around the country prior to the General Elections to work with our allies and urge citizens to vote for honest and competent alternatives.

FPI’s pro-faith, family and freedom work is not only necessary but critical in 2024. The sexual rights radicals attacking our beliefs, the natural family and religious freedoms both at the UN and imbedded in our governing structures in South Africa are very well organized and financed.

FPI cannot compete with their multi-million-dollar budgets. Critically, however, we do need a fighting chance to remain effective on the frontlines of the battle for faith, the natural family and religious freedoms. Your prayers and faithful financial partnership are our hope for victory.

As you can see, we have a huge and critical task ahead. My appeal at the beginning of 2024 is that you commit to pray for the vital work of FPI both domestically and globally. We often face intense opposition. But the Lord sustains us. I appeal for your faithful financial partnership this year so we can amplify your values and voice!  Every contribution – whatever the amount – helps.

FPI was established in 2007 to serve the Christian community in South Africa to help fulfill its Biblical mandate to be “salt and light” in society. But we cannot do this on our own. We need our brothers and sisters in Christ to stand with us and partner with FPI in this God-honoring task. Please make a pledge today to pray for, participate and partner with the vital work of FPI in 2024.
