The free app from Messenger International moves from a content library to a daily discipleship tool, built to form you – not just feed you.
Most of us are not lacking Christian content. We have saved sermons we meant to finish, half-read books, a podcast queue full of good intentions. What is harder to find is formation…we often need help taking the next step.
That is what the next iteration of MessengerX, releasing on January 1st of 2027 brings to the table. The free app from Messenger International, the ministry founded by John and Lisa Bevere, is moving from a library you browse to a daily rhythm that meets you right where you are. What began as a dream to make discipleship content more globally accessible than ever before has evolved into a massive library of ebooks, audiobooks and video courses.
Attention is the currency of our day, and where we spend our time shapes who we become. MessengerX launched in 2021 to give people something more meaningful to spend their attention on—content that feeds the spirit and leads to real transformation. And now, that transformation is becoming more personal.
On the next version MessengerX, you receive daily content catered to you: an encouragement for the day, a prayer prompt, a series that picks up where you left off or suggested content based on your preferences. It pulls from the resources you are already studying and the topics that matter most to you. You share what is on your heart and where you want to go, and the next day’s experience reflects it.
For believers in South Africa, discipleship happens in the language you know best. MessengerX is available in 140+ languages, including Afrikaans, English, Ndebele, Sesotho, Swati, Tsonga, Tswana, Xhosa and Zulu with plans to add more in the near future, and all of it is completely free of charge.
Free for the overwhelmed mom who only has two minutes to herself.
For the university student who needs help leading a small group.
For the busy professional who needs the ease of discipleship on the go.
Churches, small groups and leaders across South Africa are already using it to put solid teaching in people’s hands, and this update gives them something more robust to hand over: not just a link, but a daily path that believers can walk with a resource they trust.
The teaching itself draws on four decades of ministry from John and Lisa Bevere, whose books have been translated and carried into churches all around the world. Alongside them is a growing library of vetted voices. Every resource in the app is rooted in Scripture, and nothing reaches your daily experience that has not been screened and sifted through prayer.
This new personalisation is AI-assisted, however its role is purposefully narrow. It does not write teaching and it does not decide what is true. It simply highlights the right teaching at the right moment, out of a library that people have already read, weighed and approved. The Spirit does the forming, and the app saves you the search.
Whether you’ve never heard of MessengerX or it is already woven into your daily routine, this app was made for you. It’s just a click away, in your language, at no cost and designed to meet you exactly where you are.
MessengerX is free on iOS, Android and web. AI-assisted feature coming January 1st, 2027.
