Facing the disappointment of no holiday plans for December 2023 due to my husband’s work commitments, a heartfelt prayer opened the door to unexpected blessings. A week before the holidays, I prayed, “Father, could You please provide our family with time and money for this holiday?” Unexpectedly, my husband was granted leave and one of my clients paid in advance. Each piece fell into place miraculously. Accommodation was secured in Cape St. Francis, even at such short notice!
Not room for a mouse
But a new problem arose – the prospect of spending Christmas eve alone in an empty house because my youngest brother and his family (where we would be staying from the 24th of December) had already made arrangements to celebrate that evening elsewhere. We invited ourselves to my sister’s house for Christmas eve, since it was on the way to our destination. “Wonderful! Come visit! Come and feast … but our children are already sleeping over,” they explained. And they were right, there really wasn’t room in their apartment for a mouse.
Lord, please provide
We had a lovely time together, but my heart felt heavy thinking about the drive to the empty house later that evening. Could we possibly get accommodation here? We phoned the guest house just around the corner, no answer. My oldest brother and I drove to the guest house – no one there. After all, it was Christmas eve. I prayed, “Lord, You have provided all the way up to this point. Could you please provide us with accommodation for tonight?”
Hearts overflowing with gratitude
Just then a man walked by and my brother greeted him, as they happened to have met the previous week. When we told him about our dilemma, he disappeared and came back with a room key and card machine! He worked at the guest house, and someone cancelled their booking barely half an hour before. We enjoyed a delicious feast and visited till late. Our Father had provided!
