Doctors for Life International (DFL) is a non-profit organisation that upholds three core principles:
- Protection of the sanctity of life from fertilisation until natural death
- Sound science within the medical profession
- Judaeo-Christian ethics within the medical profession
Dr De Vos, who is a member of Doctors For Life International is supported by DFL and legal team (De Wet Wepener Attorneys and Adv Keith Matthee SC) on a pro bono basis. You can help support this pro-life doctor through this trial. DFL shared the following with us:
As you may know, we have been assisting Dr Jacques de Vos in defending him in the HPCSA professional conduct hearing in which he is charged with unprofessional conduct for informing a patient that her 19-week unborn child is a human being.
All the expert witnesses are in the de Vos case are either existing members or have been solicited by Doctors For Life International or both.
We are grateful to have obtained the pro deo services of Senior Advocate Keith Matthee and De Wet Wepener Attorneys, as well as a number of leading experts, such as Dr Graeme Birdsey (Gyneacology lecturer at UKZN), Dr Chris Warton (Anatomy Lecturer, UCT), Prof Priscilla Coleman (Human Development, USA). The work that has been put into this case now exceeds R2 million.
However, there are many expenses that we need to cover – such as travelling, flights, accommodation, printing, phone, etc. To this end we have raised approximately R 104 000.00. We still need at least R 75 000.00 to continue to cover all the costs of the attorneys, advocates and expert witnesses.
This case has attracted media attention and has already influenced the narrative on the humanity of the unborn child. If we win this case, it will confirm that the view that an unborn child is a human being is scientifically and medically sound. We have created a platform for you to donate to support this cause. Please consider making a donation urgently so that we can continue to fight for the unborn and support Dr De Vos.
Dr De Vos has been barred from practicing medicine since 2017 as a direct result of this case.
