Renowned country music icon Dolly Parton expressed her disapproval of cancel culture, deeming it “terrible.” In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she emphasized the inevitability of making mistakes and highlighted the importance of second chances.

Acknowledging her faith-based perspective, Parton stated, “We all make mistakes; we don’t all get caught at it. But also when somebody makes a mistake, it depends on who they are. That’s what God is there for.” She continued by underlining her belief in forgiveness, stating that everyone deserves a second chance, and the principle of innocence until proven guilty should prevail. Parton firmly asserted, “If God can forgive you, we all should forgive one another.”

Parton, known for her numerous accolades at the age of 77, attributed her enduring success to the fuel provided by her faith. In a previous interview with Fox News, she described her faith as all-encompassing, quoting Jesus’ words about the possibilities through God.

“My faith impacts everything that I do because I do believe that, through God, all things are possible,” said Parton, referencing verses from Mark 10, Matthew 19, and Luke 1. “And so I always ask God to bless everything that I do and the people that I work with and to bring all the right things and right people into my life and to take the wrong ones out.”

Parton also shared how she tries to view others with “God-light.” She expressed her intention to radiate this light and enable others to see it through her actions. “I try to shine with it and let them see it through me,” Parton said. “I go to that, because we’re all pieces of God and we all have that little God-light inside us. Some don’t get to let it shine. If I don’t see it first out, I’d go searching. That’s how I accept everybody because I know that we’re all pieces of God.”
