C-Fam, Family Policy Institute’s (FPI) pro-family ally at the UN reports, the battle for faith, family and freedom is heating up globally. However, those advocating for biblical truth at the UN are beginning to see a tide change as life, family and gender roles come into focus.
The relentless assault on the two-parent biological family, motherhood, fatherhood, parental rights, biblically defined gender roles and the nuclear family model is intensifying. However, a Trump administration resolution to define gender was voted down by the EU.
The European Union (EU) and nations aligned with its anti-life and anti-family ideology, which includes South Africa are leading the charge to entrench radical gender ideology in UN documents to compel member-states to comply with its dangerous agenda.
Over 5000 radical feminist and sexual rights activists converged on the UN headquarters in New York last week – at the annual “UN Commission on the Status of Women” (CSW) – to impose their dangerous ideology on the world. Angry and irrational feminists argued the biggest threat to “women’s justice” are pro-life and pro-family groups (like C-Fam and FPI).
Austin Ruse, my colleague who serves with me on the advisory board of “Demographic Winter” laments the EU’s suicidal anti-family agenda, considering that EU nations suffer plummeting birth rates and declining populations as a direct result of its godless ideology.
FPI was granted “Special Consultative Status’ at the UN in 2020. C-Fam appealed for help from global pro-family groups to help push back against the feminist onslaught at CSW. Sadly, however, a lack of funding prevented us from travelling to NY to join this battle.
Most EU nations are well below replacement level required for population stability. For example, Spain’s abortion rates often outstrip birth rates. EU nations are aborting its future generations and inexplicably, compel other world nations to join them in their death spiral.
The minimum replacement rate for a population is 2.1 children per woman per lifetime. The total fertility rate across Western Europe was around 2.66 in the early 1960s. It had fallen to 1.46 in the late 1990s. It continued dropping to a historic low of 1.34 by 2024. This means, it is impossible for EU nations to reverse rapidly declining population trends.
“U.S. birth rates in the 1960’s was around 3,5. Total fertility rates shrank to 1,59 by 2024. Dan Hart writes, “The U.S. population continues a pattern of rapid aging due to increased life expectancy and declining birth rates, another worrying trend is also occurring: a marked increase in loneliness, especially among older populations over age 45.”
Researchers say “there is a strong link between the uptick in loneliness and the choice that many Americans are making not to have children or to live alone apart from their adult children.” Studies also show “grandchildren in multi-generational households show higher cognitive functioning later in life than their counterparts from regular parent-child homes.”
The EU established the EU-ACP Treaty to form a dominant voting bloc at the UN to impose its radical anti-life and anti-family agenda on the world. African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) nations are lured into this web with the promise of EU financial rewards.
Elon Musk often comments on global declining birth rates. He recently posted on X, “White people are a rapidly diminishing minority of global population.” The post includes this sobering statistic, “In 1900 the white population of the world was 36%, today it is 8%.”
Incredibly, despite these alarming statistics, the EU leads the charge against the sanctity of life and the primacy of marriage and the family – the only institutions given by God that both produces and nurtures human life for the good of all people groups across the world.
Francis Maier writes, “A culture’s fertility rate hints at its character. It also suggests its health. Bearing and raising children is serious business. It demands sacrifices. But for anyone with a generous spirit, it also creates love, hope and trust in a meaningful future, because the instinct to “be fruitful and multiply” (Genesis 1:28) is hardwired into humanity.”
The ANC led government is aligned with the anti-life and anti-family ideology of the EU. ANC policies like expanded abortion rights, the gender-neutral “Marriage Bill,” sexual indoctrination of children in education, suppressing parental rights, legalised prostitution and pushing radical gender ideology in schools – underscores its godless agenda.
FPI and its pro-family allies will continue the battle for faith, family and freedom at the UN, Parliament, the media and general society. We covet your prayers and partnership to keep us in this critical fight. Thankfully, the tide is turning. We must therefore stay the course.
