How does a radio-based ministry reach those who do not listen to radio? How do they share the Good News with people who have never heard of their radio station? The answer: outside broadcasting. Which is why three of FEBA Mozambique’s radio teams recently received training to take the Good News to the streets.

FEBA Mozambique’s director and his team conducted training with the staff of Radio FOT (Fountain of Truth), Voice of Hope, and Impact Radio. Each of these stations has a large and varied listener base in a different province. Radio FOT’s programs, which are broadcast in the Niassa province, reach Yao listeners in Tanzania. Voice of Hope is situated in the Beira area of the Sofala province, where their listeners include nomads and refugees of Cyclone Idai. Impact Radio’s location between three large towns allows them to broadcast to about 7 million listeners.

For radio programs to have an impact, however, people need to hear them. Outside broadcasting gives FEBA’s team the opportunity to engage with their listeners and encourage them, while also introducing FEBA’s work and the Good News to new listeners. The teams travel from village to village, district by district, in vehicles equipped with mobile studios, and broadcast the programs on Facebook Live as well as radio.

“This type of outreach helps to reach more people with the word of the living God,” says FEBA Mozambique Director Bright Sonjera. “Listeners are part of our mission. Lots of them repent and experience God’s love due to this outreach.”
