I was only 18 when I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The doctor’s words cut through my heart like a knife, “You might struggle to fall pregnant one day – if you ever fall pregnant at all.” At that age I didn’t fully grasp it, but deep down I knew it would affect my path going forward.
A broken dream
In 2020 my husband and I got married. We didn’t deliberately try to start a family, but we also didn’t prevent it. In 2021 I unexpectedly fell pregnant – an incredible surprise and joy. But that joy was short-lived. I had a miscarriage. That day my heart broke, but it also awakened something in me: an intense longing to be pregnant again and to hold a baby in my arms.
The promise of hope
What followed was a long, painful journey of waiting. Months turned into years – tests, doctors, blood tests, medication. Nothing worked. Every negative result was like a fresh wound. We cried, waited, held on to hope, and prayed that God would answer. Then, on Pentecost weekend, 17 May 2024, everything changed. I received a word: “In ten months you will have a baby.” I immediately began counting – March 2025. The promise had been planted.
God’s confirmation
On 4 August 2024, during a church service, I experienced something holy. In my spirit I saw myself standing at the front of the church, holding a little baby girl in my arms while testifying of God’s goodness. In that moment I knew: one day we would have a daughter.
The next day, 5 August, I tested positive. The doctor gave the due date as 11 April 2025, but I kept believing: this baby is coming in March, just as the Lord had said. In November the scan confirmed it was indeed a baby girl. I simply smiled. God had already revealed it to me long before.
A promise fulfilled
Three years earlier, I had come across a name that never left my heart: Anayah. It means “God has answered”. I knew it was the name of our promise. And then, on 21 March 2025, she took her first breath. Our promise. Our little girl. Our Anayah. God had truly answered.
