Jesus is who He says He is

Garin Joemath, the inspiring author of Today Your Faith Matters, shares with JOY! News how God faithfully delivered him as he fought against the coronavirus (COVID-19) during July.

What was an exciting time for Garin and his wife Shetel during June after the launch of the book Today Your Faith Matters, took a slight turmoil in July after the young author became a COVID-19 victim.

“I never for once ever thought that I would be infected by this Coronavirus that is impacting lives, economies, and the ways of life around the world globally. It started when I started feeling a fever and hectic coughs. I went for a COVID test and received news that I was positive,” said Garin.

The author added that his life at that moment was overlapped with fear and he believed that he was challenged with his faith in Jesus.

“When something like this ever happens to an individual person, it is normal to become fearful,” said Garin.

This was an uncertain time for Garin and his wife Shetel as they did not know how to overcome this part in their life.

“Reading about the COVID-19 pandemic in our media is one thing but to experience it is another. Loss of taste, hectic coughs, fever, and shortness of breath that I also experienced one evening, I cannot start to explain how terrifying it was. The scariest thing about my journey COVID-19 was that while experiencing most symptoms in the body, I would worry that God is not close and questioned that is He who He says He is,” added Garin.

The author stressed that His faith was overlapped by fear and he constantly asked himself these questions: Why me? Where is God? I thought He loves me. Why does He allow this to happen to me? Will I die? All these questions were raised when fear overlapped his faith.

“During my process with the virus I had to decide that if I stay in fear, I will rob myself from the joy of my faith in my Heavenly Father. If I had to decide to stay in fear, I would rob myself of believing that God is still on the throne. If I had to decide to stay in fear, I would be struggling to put my faith in the promises of God that He is all-loving and healing. If I had to stay in fear, I would of rob myself from believing the truth that Jesus is who He says He is. I may not have felt His presence, but I came to this that it is not what I feel but what I believe. This storm that my wife and I faced with me fighting against the Coronavirus did not stop God from being faithful or from reaching out to me, instead, He was ready to take me through it.”

“It may have felt that God was silent, but He was not silent. He is with me all the way and stood right beside me while I was fighting the virus. It was He who strengthened me. I may have been in the fire but there was another standing next to me in that fire. He was speaking to me through His Word reminding me that He is fighting for me and that He loves me unconditionally and that it is not over for my life because He that started a good work in me will complete it. What could have killed me did not because God stopped it and He delivered me from it. I am healed and recovered, and it is all thank you to my loving Saviour Jesus Christ,” said Garin.

Hebrews 13:8: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

“We experience different times and seasons in our lives, but Jesus Christ remains the same. His love, faithfulness, plans, promises for your life will never change. You may have experienced a setback but there is a major comeback. Jesus is who He says He is and even during this time of COVID-19, He is still the same loving and faithful God that is always ready to deliver us. Weapons will form against you, but it will not prosper. Each storm that comes your way, Jesus promises to never leave nor forsake you. The storm comes and Jesus will deliver you from it. The storm of the Coronavirus will not last forever because every storm has an expiry date. The Word of God stands, and the Word will stand forever. Jesus is that Word who lives and It was, after all, Him who said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” He is who He says He is,” concluded Garin.
