Multi-talented and award-winning Gospel artist and producer, Mnqobi Nxumalo, is spreading his wings again with a release of his single titled “Likude”.

Following a personal reflection of his journey since he released his second album (My Side of the View featuring “Bengingazi” which was also used for Joyous Celebration 20), “Likude” is Mnqobi’s adaptation of a song that has been sung at events important to him growing up, but with his additional composition and creative elements.

“This song holds fond memories from when I was very young,” says Mnqobi. “Now that I’ve grown, I understand the hearts at which my elders were singing it from, and I also feel that way – the Yearn; the desire; the imagination and the hope to see Heaven. I know the song holds fond memories for a lot of people as well, and I just want to take them back to those moments. I recorded it for my previous album but it just couldn’t fit in,” he adds. 

Born and bred in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, Mnqobi’s music career took off in 2012 when he released his very first album, He’s a Wonder. Since then, he has progressed to be a prolific artist amongst his peers in the Gospel genre; having worked with world-class musicians such as Ntokozo Mbambo and Nqubeko Mbatha,  the Potter’s House choir along Side Oscar Williams (under The Leadership of Pastor TD Jakes), Pastor Benjamin Dube, Kirk Franklin, Juanita Bynum, Lebo Sekgobela and Mahalia Buchanan, to mention a few.

He continues to explore the entertainment industry in different capabilities not just as a Gospel singer, but also a songwriter; a vocal coach for some of SA’s well-known artists; a news technician at SABC and Musical Director for one of the biggest Gospel groups in Mzansi, Joyous Celebration. 

Expressing himself about his musical journey and the upcoming solo project, Mnqobi concludes: “I will always be eternally grateful for the people I have met and the lessons learned along the way. I am very excited about this project and I hope that people will love my music. With “Likude”, I also hope to make people to think ahead about no matter how great we may think our place on Earth is – it is not, and never will be, our final destination. ”

“Likude”, published by self-owned music publishing company called Zwide Publishers, will be available on all digital platforms soon. Mnqobi also hopes to release his third album in August 2019.
