A healthy, nurturing family environment can be the catalyst for children from hard places to flourish and reach their full potential. The annual South African Foster Conference, taking place on 26 August 2023, is the ideal opportunity to gather and learn about foster care.
In South Africa there are thousands of children in foster care and a great need for families to take children into care. The South African Foster Conference provides an opportunity for families, professionals and other stakeholders to learn more about the foster care system in South Africa and how to come alongside children in care to help them grow and flourish.

This one-day event will take place on 26 August from 08:30 – 15:30 at Die Bron, Willowbridge Centre in Bellville. Various ticketing options are available, ranging from in-person to online and will start at R 175.00. All tickets are available on www.quicket.co.za.
Sessions at this event include topics such as Trauma Informed Care and Parenting Styles as well as several breakout rooms for smaller discussion-style sessions. Some of the speakers at this year’s conference include a psychologist, social workers and various other experienced professionals in the child protection space.

This year’s conference is hosted by Kin Culture, a local child protection organisation aimed at recruiting and supporting foster families. Embarking on the journey of foster care is a winding road with many ups and downs. Learning, networking and finding encouragement can be of great value for anyone in this space.
