A milestone is being reached in the Dutch Reformed Church with the first Family meeting of Bible believing Christians. The meeting will take place on the 21st to the 22nd of July 2022 at the AfriForum Theatre in Pretoria. Just as Martin Luther took a stand for his faith by nailing his 95 theses to a church door in Wittenberg, like-minded people will come together to declare their unity in Truth: “Here we stand. We can do no other.”

What led to this event?
Heresies resulting from liberal handling of Scripture led the Dutch Reformed Church to increasingly exchange its Reformed identity for the idea of a “spacious house” where “theological diversity” is the password. A Space is therefore sometimes created for varying points of view – all except for Biblical truth.

The height of apostasy was the General Synod’s shocking decisions of 2015 and 2019 regarding same-sex relationships, without any sound Scriptural interpretation justifying the decision. In doing so, the General Synod acted contrary to the Word of God. It was therefore inevitable that under the leadership of the Kairos Network, those faithful to the Scriptures as well as the conservative faith community were united in their views.

A late breakfast is planned for Thursday morning from 09:30 – 10:00 for those who registered prior to the session. This will be an informal time to fellowship and planning.

The formal program will begin at 14:00 with praise and worship. The main theme is, “Moving forward together as a Bible believing family of faith”.

Several other issues on the agenda are:

  • A Bible believing family of faith joining hands to bring hope to a confused world;
  • A Bible believing family of faith building on a sound foundation (Sola et Tota Scriptura – the authority of Scripture);
  • A Bible believing family of faith accepting only sound Theological training;
  • A Bible believing family of faith focussing on the message of salvation in doctrine and life, and
  • A Bible believing family of faith with a vision for the way forward.

Proceedings conclude with the last theme: “Our family of believers’ testimony to the outside world, and the Family’s declaration of faith”.

Knowledgeable speakers will introduce pressing Family matters. The intention is that the speakers will give the Family an exciting vision for each of the specific themes with underlying principles. It will immediately be followed up with a panel discussion, where proposals for practical implementation will be considered. The expectation is that experts in the regions will be appointed to take those proposals further for implementation. This is therefore an opportunity for Bible believers to make their gifts, knowledge and expertise available so as to facilitate the practical implementation of a particular matter that is close to their heart.

Kairos Network believes:

  • The biblical recipe is simple: Listen to what God says in His Word. Believe what you have heard and then put in action what you have heard!
  • When we carry the burden of humbling ourselves before the Lord together, we will also experience the blessing of the Lord together when He pours out the spiritual rains on us!
  • These matters are so important that we must understand; not only CAN it be addressed immediately, it MUST be addressed immediately. It is KAIROS time!
