Dr. Jacques De Vos, a member of “Doctor’s for Life,” was prevented from furthering his medical career by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for advising that unborn babies are human life. The HPCSA charged him with unprofessional conduct and barred him from practicing for more than two and a half years without any form of hearing.
De Vos’ hearing has been taking place since the 28th October. Errol Naidoo, a longstanding partner with JOY! Magazine and a defender of Christian values in South Africa, has been involved in these proceedings, fighting to give de Vos a fair chance.
Naidoo posted the following on his Facebook page:
“DE VOS UPDATE: (29 Oct) After two long days of argument, the HPCSA disciplinary committee ruled that the hearing can proceed on counts 1 & 2 (relating to advising a woman that her unborn child is a human being). The Committee have not decided on counts 3 & 4 (generalised charges regarding De Vos’ views). De Vos’ legal team argued that the charges are unlawful, vague and that the long delay and failure to provide information by the HPCSA renders the hearing unfair. The HPCSA disciplinary committee has until 9 December 2019 to decide on counts 3 & 4, and to give reasons for all their decisions. Dr De Vos’ legal team will then decide on the way forward, including possibly applying to the High Court for review. For more information contact Doctors For Life at firstname.lastname@example.org”

Naidoo has been extremely involved in this case. Last week he handed over 23 000 signatures to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) demanding an End to the Persecution of Dr. Jacques De Vos for his pro-life beliefs.
Please continue to keep Jacques de Vos in your prayers as he goes through these proceedings.
