Whether you are a Christian or not, you absolutely cannot deny the significance of the many miracles that happened at the IT’S TIME prayer gathering this past weekend in Mitchells Plain.
Leading up to the event, secular news stations were sharing articles that ridiculed uncle Angus Buchan – many mocking, laughing at, criticising, and belittling the humble man of God for his obedience. Headlines were rampant with phrases such as “lunatic”, “false prophet”, and even some naming him a demonic force.
However, these secular news sites did not deter the 150 000 people who flocked in from all over Cape Town to attend the prayer gathering, including business leaders, members of parliament, muslims, and even some dangerous gangsters.
The 24th March 2018 will forever be a significant day in the history of Cape Town, as lives were changed, prayers were answered, crowds repented, and thousands upon thousands lay down their lives and humbled themselves before the Cross.
The day’s proceedings started at 10am, with beautiful worship songs being sung by all. The atmosphere was electric on the grounds, with many rejoicing and boldly declaring their faith in the Lord. The music led many to tears, but this was just the beginning.

Our drought-stricken province has experienced the worst rainfall season in many decades, with the status of our city declared a national crisis. The prayer meeting was originally called for rain – for the Lord to pour out his blessing over Cape Town. Uncle Angus’ message was one of repentance, as the following verse was repeated throughout the day:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14.
He led the crowd in a salvation prayer, asking the Lord to forgive our nation of our sins. The crowds dropped to their knees, humbling themselves before the Lord. And then the blessing poured out.
Laughter and tears abounded as rain fell down upon the crowd. It was such a significant move of the spirit, as if the Heavens had opened up. The barren land that we were standing upon was soon covered in water, and Uncle Angus stretched out to the heavens, thanking the Lord.
The crowds did not disappear, despite the rainfall. Umbrellas popped up all around, and people humbly worshipped further in the rain. South Africa’s Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng was standing in the front row with his wife, Mmaphefo, worshipping boldly. He was seen with a huge smile on his face, leading the way for our corrupt government.
Shortly after the rainfall began, Uncle Angus took to the stage to share his message. The rain paused and allowed for a comfortable afternoon on the sports field. Angus shared about the doubts that the enemy had placed in his heart the night before, how he was so nervous that nobody would attend the prayer gathering, and how hesitant he was that morning before entering into his prayer room. After spending time with the Lord in prayer, he was reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness, and was filled with a Godly strength to follow through with what he had been called to do – to go into Mitchells Plain and preach the message of repentance, and to lead the crowd in a salvation prayer. He referred to Mitchells Plain as the “Flower of Cape Town”, emphasising that great things would come from this event.
Everybody was enjoying the day, and then Angus shared something that was on his heart. “I have a vision from the Lord to call up the Gang Leaders of Mitchells Plain. I want you to come to the stage, to repent from your wicked ways, and to follow the Lord. I want you to exchange your guns for Bibles.”
My heart dropped. Instantly seeds of doubt crept into my heart. “Oh boy Angus, what have you done now? Do you really expect gang leaders to be here at your event? Let alone come up to the front of the crowd and repent?” – these faithless doubts were all that consumed me.
Uncle Angus continued, “Gang leaders, you are leaders! Come up to the front and repent. Run here, I am waiting for you! After this song, I want you up here. I am waiting.”
My heart sank deeper, “What will happen if nobody comes up? Why would gang leaders come up? Why not play it safe and just ask for gang members or affiliates, why gang leaders? The media is going to have a field day mocking you for this one!”, my thoughts continued.
The song ended and nobody had come up. I am sure that I was not the only person in the crowd who was doubtful. The band continued with “I’m no longer a slave to fear”. Then all of a sudden, a gang leader came through the crowd. The crowd was clapping and cheering him on. My heart lifted and bounced back, “Sho Angus, you were more faithful than I could imagine. This is wonderful!”, I thought.
But then he followed: “Gang Leaders, I know there are more of you – come to the front of the stage and repent! All the way from the back, come here. I am waiting for you!” Again my mind started to think, “WHY – you waited so long and finally got a gang leader to come up, why ask for more?”
Oh how I was so lost for words when all of a sudden gang leaders came up to the stage in numbers. 12 gang leaders, from opposing gangs in Mitchells Plain, covered in tattoos and piercings, with angry expressions on their faces, all walking up to the stage. Police from the event immediately surrounded them, keeping an eye on the crowds. These gang leaders were not even 10 metres away from Chief Justice Mogoeng and other important members of society.

Uncle Angus welcomed them up with open arms. He leapt off the stage to embrace them with loving hugs, praying for them and leading them in a prayer of repentance. These gang leaders were so overwhelmed with emotion, with tears streaming down their faces. The whole crowd was overwhelmed as the Holy Spirit poured out His love.
In a Spirit-led moment, Angus began stripping his belongings and giving the clothes off his back to these gangsters. He started with his iconic hat, placing in on the head of one of the men. He then followed with his jacket, shirt, boots, and ultimately his most precious belonging – his Bible. He stood there in front of the crowd with nothing left of himself to give. It was without a doubt the most humbling act of kindness that I have ever witnessed. It again started to pour with rain, and Angus stood there in nothing but his pants and an undershirt. He prayed for these men and prophesied over their lives, calling one of them to be a preacher in the streets of Mitchells Plain. We all then began to worship our Heavenly Father, again singing “I’m no longer a slave to fear”. The gangsters began to dance and sing, and the crowds were cheering and clapping. Even the police officers who were there as a job took hands and praised the Lord together, never having seen something like this before.
The IT’S TIME Prayer Gathering will go down for me as one of the most evident outpourings of the Holy Spirit’s love, grace, and mercy that I have ever experienced. Lives were changed on that day, and I truly believe that thanks to Uncle Angus Buchan’s faithful obedience to the Lord’s calling, our nation will soon start to bear the fruits. Thank you Uncle Angus for your honest preaching and selfless acts of love, you truly emulate the Father’s heart. All glory to God!

So must we just forget that he “prophesied” that the dams would be 100% full by March? If he really is a prophet, he would be accurate with every prophecy.
Must we also gloss over the fact that he said that wives mustn’t be surprised if their husbands beat them because they (the wives) don’t submit?
If he is an example of an upstanding christian, I’ll pass, thank you.
Any follow up on the gang members? Did they get saved ? are they saved still?
