“After my husband left to fight in the war, and my daughter began having night terrors every night, I was lost,” a 29-year-old mother and FEBA Ukraine listener shares. “Your station helped me think in a different way about my life. I began praying and soon gave my life to Christ. I am the happiest I’ve ever been.”
Difficult circumstances require creative thinking. The war in Ukraine is taking a grievous toll on young people like this listener, and many small children cannot even remember a time before their towns and cities were under attack. In an effort to comfort these little ones, FEBA Ukraine is handing out stuffed toys in the shape of a lamb. When you press its nose, the toy switches on and plays any of the more than 100 children’s programs and Christian worship songs, as well as the New Testament for children, that FEBA Ukraine has loaded onto it. The toys are being distributed to children in the most dangerous regions of Ukraine, where the violence is most immediate.
As one of FEBA Ukraine’s staff members says, “Instead of hearing [sirens and explosions] before they go to bed, our kids can hug this little lamb as a reminder of Jesus Christ being near to them.”
In the meantime, FEBA Ukraine lost its radio station in Donetsk – the third since the war began – and the station in Pokrovsk is now also under threat. As in the case of the young mother quoted at the beginning of this article, FEBA’s programs serve as a source of great comfort and encouragement, not only to believers and local churches but also to non-believers in the region.
FEBA is calling upon its supporters to pray for FEBA Ukraine’s remaining stations.
