Proverbs 11:14  “For lack of guidance a nation falls, but victory is won through many advisers.”

Awakening South Africa, Prayer and Repentance movement, extends an invitation to all believers in South Africa to 10 days of prayers counting down to the G20 Leaders’ Summit, to be held in Johannesburg from November 22 to 23.

The Group of Twenty (20) was founded in 1999, following the Asian financial crisis of 1997, as a platform for major developed and emerging economies to discuss international economic and financial stability and coordinate global efforts to deal with crises.

The G20 continues to play an important role in shaping and strengthening the global economy and governance on all major international economic issues.

South Africa assumed the presidency of the G20 from December 1 2024 until November 30 2025, and has adopted the following theme for its presidency “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability”.

This will be the first time an African country hosts the prestigious gathering, which brings together leaders and policymakers from major economies. President Cyril Ramaphosa has committed to placing Africa’s development at the top of the agenda when hosting the G20 this year.

South Africa will hand over the Presidency to the United States in 2025 after the summit. However, President Donald Trump says none of his country’s officials will attend the G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa as long as the killing of Afrikaners continues.

Nevertheless, a massive economic boost is expected especially in areas such as tourism and hospitality, as we prepare to host, network and partner with some of the weathiest nations in the world.  A successful G20 summit is expected to be achieved, as were other major global events such as 2010 FIFA World Cup and BRICS Summit.

In 2020, Prophet Charlie Shamp of Destiny Encounters in the USA, released a prophetic word “that South Africa is called to be a breadbasket to the nations both in the natural and the spiritual”.  The prophetic destiny of South Africa is thus one of leading the nations in revival and reformation.

Jeremiah 29:7“Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper”.

This is thus a call to the Body of Christ — to every believer, every intercessor, and every worshipper — to ‘take your place on the wall’.  Let’s stand together for the spiritual awakening of our nation during such a pivotal time, where all eyes of the world are on our beautiful country.

We therefore invite you to be part of the army of the Lord by choosing any a one-hour slot, where you will stand in the gap to pray for the nation of South Africa during this 10 day period.

Details are as follows:

  • Start date and time: Friday November 14 at 6pm
  • End date and time: Sunday November 23 at 6pm
  • Participation can be indicated by completion of the following form 24 Hour Prayer Altar – Prayer And Repentance
  • Prayer points suggested at this time are:
  1. For peace and stability in the nation during, before and after the G20 summit
  2. That any plans of the enemy against the nation and summits be cancelled
  3. For the spiritual atmosphere over the nation to be protected at this time, and for angelic armies to be stationed across the nation
  4. For the agenda and resolutions which will be taken at this summit, to be aligned with biblical values and godly governance
  5. For the spiritual awakening of the various political and business leaders who will be attending both the B20 & G20 summits
  6. That the summits will positively contribute to changing the lives of our people, and prosperity of the nation
  7. That South Africa will align with those nations whom God has chosen for our prosperity and not those whose intentions are untoward, to only plunder our resources etc

Christians, prayer networks and churches are invited to join hands during this 10-day period in praise, worship, prayer and repentance.
