Local singer-songwriter, Lenore, has just released her second single – and it’s a good one!
Lenore, meaning “bright light”, was singing in tune even before she could speak. She grew up in Kuils River, outside Cape Town, and is the youngest of five siblings who all share a common love for music. At just nine years of age, Lenore made her big singing debut at her older sister’s wedding, and from there her love for music grew even stronger. At the age of just sixteen years, Lenore wrote her very first song, Start All Over Again. The song has just been released and is set to soar!
You can listen to Lenore’s new song, Start All Over Again, here:
For Lenore, music has always been a way of reaching out to others. Filled with a desire to shape and share her music with others, Lenore received vocal training at school and sang in the school choir throughout her school years. Incredibly, Lenore taught herself to play the guitar, and she gives all the credit to the Holy Spirit, for being her ultimate teacher.
In 2013, Lenore had the life-changing opportunity to minister in the USA, whilst on a church trip. It was there that she sang her first original song on multiple platforms.
Then, in 2015, Lenore was part of Neville D’s choir for his Beauty of Difference concert and live recording, which as a great experience for her. Later, in 2018, she made a simple recording of a new song that she had written. The song was called, I Deny Myself and it reached the Gospel singer Shalane Haywood and Miracle Squared. They were so impressed by the song that they contacted Lenore to offer her the opportunity to record her debut single! The rest, as they say, is history.
I Deny Myself was released in October 2019 and the song made it to the final stage at the WSA (World Songwriters Awards) “Best Gospel Song” category, and it later took the top spot on Awakening Gospel Radio.
Speaking about the release of her new song, Start All Over Again, Lenore said the song was all about making new beginnings. “It’s for when you feel you failed God at some point and you struggle to forget your past or move forward.” She went on to explain, “God is with you, waiting for you to realize that His arms are open wide, and He is so forgiving. He wants you to reach out and admit that you’ve failed, so He can step in. He’s waiting for you to make the choice to start all over again.”
Lenore wants listeners to understand that God wants to help fix what is broken in their lives, and for them to know that He is greater than the circumstances they face. She went on to say, “He always has a plan!”
We are excited to see what the future holds for this talented young woman of God!
