Being born again for the last 48 years, I realise more and more that we carry the answers that many are searching for. Jesus is the bread of life and our fountain of living water. God often gives us experiences that He carries us through; so that we have the answer that many are desperately seeking.
Debt and obesity are epidemic
Debt is at epidemic proportions. It drives one into survival mode, exchanging a quality of life and liberty into being enslaved. One becomes its servant. It changes one’s character at every month end. Household debt is at 72.7 % of disposable income. For every 10 people, only 3 do not have debt. 25,85 million people are in debt in SA. 10,3 million are behind in their payments. 5 million have judgements. Another problem of epidemic proportions is obesity. 70 % of women and 38 % of men in SA are overweight. Extra weight leads to an unhealthy body. An unhealthy body costs, as sickness is not cheap. Most people I meet are stressed out. The ‘hamster wheel’ lifestyle brings anxiety and exhaustion. In all this, irrespective of a person’s station in life, all look for peace. You must know such people; you may even be looking for help in one or more of the above areas yourself?
