Mentoring is one of the missing biblical portals that we do not often see taking place in the Body of Christ. Mentoring is not only biblical, it is a requirement. We serve a generational God who, in establishing perpetuity, expects us to facilitate godly succession. Mentoring is a key vehicle that can be used to shape the next generation of leaders that will take nations forward. It ensures generational longevity.
Passing on the baton
Mentoring is one of the best ways we can connect generations and effectively hand over the succession baton. One of my all-time favourite pastimes is watching athletics, and one of the races I enjoy watching most is the relay race. I have observed that the manner in which the baton is passed over to the next runner is key in determining which team will win the race. If a runner passes the baton carelessly or drops it, it may result in a loss for that team. The same principles apply in the spiritual realm. There is a requirement for the older generation to pass the baton effectively and smoothly to the next generation so they can carry on with the race and run it effectively and smoothly.
Mentoring can be used to shape the next generation of leaders that will take nations forward.
Effective mentoring
Effective mentoring takes place when there is willingness and intentionality on the part of both mentor and mentee. This means that meetings must be consistently set up and kept. Mentoring is a process and not an event. Effective mentors are those who look for gifts and talents in others and empower them, releasing them to serve. Biblical mentoring is based on and guided by the Word of God, Kingdom perspectives, and a biblical worldview. The mentor must always point to Yeshua as the ultimate role model. The mentee should be mentored and encouraged to acknowledge and use their spiritual gifts in the service of the Lord.
Using technology to mentor
Social media platforms provide powerful tools for mentoring. We recently started two mentoring initiatives on Clubhouse, a new application that allows for audio discussions and sharing of ideas. The two new mentoring initiatives are:
G2G – Generation to Generation
G2G stands for generation to generation. This group came about as a result of numerous requests from young women in the Body of Yeshua who were looking for older women to mentor them in Kingdom matters. The group currently meets online every Wednesday from 20h00-21h00 (SAST). To join the club and access the free sessions, please WhatsApp Minister Rudzani Mutungutungu on 081 716 9628.

The Deborahs 972
This is a network of female law students who are being trained and equipped to contend for the faith in line with Psalm 97:2 – Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of His Throne! Law school teaches earthly legal principles. This mentoring group reminds lawyers of justice – as defined by Elohei Mishpat, God who dispenses justice and is justice Himself. This group currently meets every Thursday evening on Clubhouse from 20h00-21h00 SAST. The bulk of the mentoring sessions are led by myself, and we have occasional guest legal believers who address the group. Our first guest speakers were Later Martin, an attorney from USA, and Michael Swain, the Executive Director of Freedom of Religion South Africa.

Would you like to join this group?
If you want to be a part of the mentoring sessions, please send an email to the co-ordinator of the group, Ms Didintle Tselapedi – deborahmovement972@gmail.com. The email should contain the following information: The university you are studying at, the year of law you are in; and your WhatsApp number. After you have sent the email with all the above information, you will receive an email advising you on how you can join the group! Please note that these sessions are FREE! We look forward to seeing you on Clubhouse! #KeNako
