Mokgoba Village is an informal settlement in South Africa with lots of poverty. Through the love of Jesus, Mokgoba Village Missions (MVM) seeks to uplift and change lives. The following is a newsletter that was sent to JOY from MVM, detailing their wonderful work in the community:

Let’s start by filling everyone in on what has been happening since our arrival in Limpopo.

One of the first things to have happened was the building of the toilets and kitchen. Initially when we started working in the village there was no toilets so along with Hillside Farm we built 2 toilets and a shower. What an absolute blessing this has proved to be for the children in the crèche and for the congregation of Healing Point Family Church.

On the opposite side of the toilet block we built a kitchen with a food prep area. This has made such a vast improvement when Pastor Peter and his wife Saniki are preparing the food for the soup kitchen.

A huge thankyou to Paint Pot Tzaneen for their supply of paint for this project.

We also implemented a soup kitchen. The soup kitchen runs 5 days a week. Pastor Peter and his wife Saniki prepare and feed up to 70 children a day. This is after a full day’s work in the crèche.

Without the crèche many of the single mums would not be able to work, so it is vital for the village.

We have been truly blessed with food donations from Hillside farm and the Spar on a weekly basis and ongoing, and for the past two months and ongoing every month end from Food Lovers Market. This enables us to make food parcels and bless the community.

We have also been blessed on several occasions from Matome one of the street vendors. This man humbles us so much, a mere street vendor and yet so giving. God Bless you Matome.

A day camp was held at Merensky Dam with 20 of the village teenagers. Great fun was had by all. We laughed, We had a lovely braai, we had praise and worship, I shared with the girls Gus ministered to the boys, we did some fishing, we had tug of war and we were all winners. All praise to God for a beautiful day.

A second day camp was held at Hillside Farm. We had such a wonderful time. This time it was the elderly and the mums who had fun. We worshipped, we had prayer, Lotte shared, we swam and we ate and laughed and chatted and just enjoyed the fellowship.

Another big thankyou was due to Bricks@Tzaneen for the donation of bricks and to Hillside Farm for the labour to lay paving and now the children are no longer sitting in dirt and mud.

We have been blessed throughout the year from several individuals who have donated clothing, toys, books etc. A big thankyou to Noah’s Ark Childrens home, Little Blessings, Cindy and Nikita Fouche Groenewald and Eden Tromp.

One of the things that we are trusting the Lord for is more bricks and cement and building materials. We really need to build walls, windows and doors, in order to keep the extreme heat and the rain off the children in the crèche. We have had one donation so far of R1000 from Nick Wright of Duiwelskloof Spar – a huge thankyou once again Nick.

We are going to be extending the roof on the church and crèche very soon thanks to Hillside Farm, this will keep the hot sun of the children when we have Sunday Service.

Food Lovers Market Tzaneen have been such a blessing! We had the most amazing Christmas Party – Mel and Farhana we cannot thank you enough – That day was just so special – The God of More Than Enough! 80 little mouths and 80 very full tummies! Singing, dancing, toys, and just pure joy.

Panarottis Tzaneen did a Pizza bust for the children in the crèche. Thanks to Stephanie and Bessie – What joy for the children – show me a child whose face does not shine when they see pizza – for many of these children it was their first taste of what for many is the norm!

We aim to make real change this year transforming lives, showing the love of Jesus Christ and reaching out to the lost and needy. We give all Glory to God, for the direction of our steps and the wisdom and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus!
