More than 300 people, including pastors have recently attended the Pastor’s Conference in preparation for the Love Cape Town City Fest, happening from 2 to 16 November in the Mother City.
Three events will be held over 3 consecutive Saturdays to call on Capetonians to bring along unsaved friends and to introduce them to Jesus Christ, at the Evangelising events.
The Pastor’s summit was held at the West Reach Assembly of God Church on Silversands Road in Mitchells Plain on 23 and 24 July 2019. What made the assembly special, was that pastors from different denominations attended the summit.
At the Pastor’s meeting, evangelist Theuns Pauw of African Enterprise said the organization is committed to come alongside the Church to evangelise through word and deed. He says once people have responded, they need to be discipled.
The ministry includes Stratified Evangelism, to go to where the people are. They are also involved with Youth Empowerment, leadership development, community transformation and Peace & Reconciliation.
Pauw says every believer has been entrusted to go and make disciples. “The whole Body of Christ must take ownership of this,” he added.
It’s estimated that there’s 3,8 million people in Cape Town and 6 out of every 10 are committed believers. This means that one and a half million people still need to be reached.

All believers have been called and commissioned to make a fresh start and to commit to 4 things:
- Make the worshipping of Jesus Christ, their number 1 priority in life – Ps 2:8
- Commit to multiply, as disciples make other disciples – Eph 4:11-13.
- Commit to GO. We are given the ministry of reconciliation, and are ambassadors for communities to be restored – 2 Cor 5: 17-21
- Commit to Pray: Luke 18 says “God does nothing but in answer to Prayer!” Pray for lost hearts, a boldness to speak. Pray: To send out labourers. There should be an intention.
Pastor David Chigamba of the Luis Palau Association in Malawi, spoke on the topic of
Increasing your Invitation Power. (Jer 1: 11-12)
Chigamba says, “It is God’s desire that the Church reach out and choose to invite others. God asks: ”What do you see?” Jeremiah had to open his eyes. We need to open ours. We have all we need in God who supplies in abundance. He wants to increase our invitation power. The harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few. He has set it before us – God says” I am watching over my word! We are to be moved by the heart of God.”
Chigamba also asked, “What are we focussing on? A church that does not focus on evangelism and the saving of souls and winning the lost, is in danger.
He added that churches exist for others. “It is time to help God’s people to understand God’s calling for disciples to make other disciples. Evangelism is a process, to teach, how to increase our power of invitation,” Chigamba added.
How can this be applied practically: Each participant is encouraged to list five names of friends and/or family who do not know Christ. Then pray, contact, build a friendship with them and invite to church.

16 November: Grand Parade in the Cape Town CBD
The events in November will be hosted by African Enterprise and the Luis Palau Association. Many other local Christian organizations as well as broadcasters and publications have thrown their weight behind Love Cape Town City Fest. May the harvest be plentiful!
