What Is Happening?
Recently the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General visited several areas of Pakistan ravaged by floods raising awareness of the enormity of the ongoing disaster. According to the UN, more than 1,300 lives have been lost, millions are homeless, one-third of the country is submerged, and livestock, crops, and infrastructure have been wiped out. In addition, schools have been interrupted for an estimated 3.5 million children – including at least 61 refugee schools.
Why Is This Important?
The UN Secretary-General offered hope to all those impacted by the devastating floods, with this appeal: “I am here to ask the whole world to give massive support to Pakistan.” Although many countries have pledged emergency support, more funds are needed. The Lord is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works (Psalms 145:9), so too the global Church should be moved with tender mercy to intercede for and assist those who are suffering in Pakistan
“ When we work, we work. When we pray, God works.” (Hudson Taylor)

Pray
• for an outpouring of generosity so that sufficient aid will reach those in need
• for sustained support in Pakistan’s recovery process
• for the LORD’s tender mercies, love, and care to be demonstrated through His Body
