Parliament’s ‘Home Affairs Portfolio Committee” is currently hosting countrywide public hearings on the gender-neutral single “Marriage Bill” to grant citizens the opportunity to make oral submissions on the legislation. The Bill seeks to redefine man, woman marriage.

The ANC formulated the gender-neutral single “Marriage Bill” following discussions with LGBTQ groups and UN agencies. Sexual rights activists argued a separate law like the “Civil Union Act” imply same-sex unions are inferior to man, woman marriage. They demanded the ANC create a single marriage Act to recognise all forms of unions “equally”.

The single “Marriage Bill” will replace the three existing marriage Acts, “The Marriage Act of 1961,”- that recognize and regulate marriage between a man and a woman, “The Recognition of Customary Marriages Act of 1998” – that regulate polygamous marriages, and “The Civil Union Act of 2006” – that recognize and regulate same-sex unions.

Although the Bill “proposes a significant overhaul of the country’s marriage laws, aiming to create a more inclusive and equitable legal framework for all marriages” – the real aim of the Bill is to equate man, woman marriage with same-sex unions in every legal respect.

Dr. Aaron Moatsoaledi, the former Home Affairs Minister claimed, the “Calvinist Christian” tradition of marriage “discriminates” against LGBTQ citizens in SA and must be revised.

Public hearings on the single “Marriage Bill” will be held in Nelspruit on 4 April, Ermelo, 5 April and Witbank 6 April in Mpumalanga. Please see full schedule of dates, times and venues. It is essential Christian citizens attend these hearings and speak up for marriage.

A homosexual activist bemoans the opposition to the equivalence of same-sex unions with marriage at the public hearings in the Eastern Cape. Predictably, disagreements with the Bill is blamed on “homophobia.” The single “Marriage Bill” strips men and women of the unique definition of marriage simply to appease the irrational demands LGBTQ radicals.

In an online article entitled, “Eastern Cape Marriage Bill hearings expose anti-LGBTQ sentiment,” the writer complains about my warnings that abolishing the terms “husband and wife” in the new Bill may precipitate the death of marriage in South Africa. Defending the ancient God-given institution of marriage is erroneously labelled, “anti-LGBTQ.”

However, what the writer conveniently fails to question, is why sexual rights activists demand a new marriage Act that abolishes man, woman marriage in law when LGBTQ citizens already enjoy all the rights and privileges of marriage under the “Civil Union Act.”

How does abolishing the unique definition of man, woman marriage in law enhance the rights and equality of LGBTQ citizens? It doesn’t. The goal of the gender-neutral single “Marriage Bill” is not about rights or equality – but destroying the institution of marriage.

Religious marriage officers, Churches and wedding service providers are not granted religious exemption in the Bill. Monogamous marriage in the new Bill is defined as opposite sex, same-sex and transgender unions. There is no distinction in this Bill between genuine and counterfeit marriage. And that’s the goal, if marriage is anything, then it is nothing.

“The Heritage Foundation” Special Report on Marriage and the Family argues, “Families are the bedrock of society and marriage is its cornerstone. Research overwhelmingly shows a clear association between instability in the family and adverse social outcomes.”

“The Special Report offers insights on American family life through analysis of trends in marriage, childbearing, divorce, cohabitation, and abortion. American family life is at a crossroads. One path is marked by declining marriage, low birth rates, high unwed childbearing, casual divorce, abortion on demand, and the rejection of biological sex.”

The other path believes marriage is the lifelong union of one man and one woman, treats all life with dignity, and acknowledges that children do best when raised by their married biological parents. The path that Americans choose will determine the future of the country.

There are clear similarities between the US and SA. For example, single-parent families constitute the majority of homes in SA and the US. Declining marriage rates, high unwed childbearing, casual divorce, abortion on demand and rejection of biological sex are social ills both SA and the US are grappling with. The consequences are also tragically similar.

In addition to economic downturn and social instability, plummeting fertility rates threaten to radically alter the social landscapes of entire nations. Known as the “Demographic Winter,” it warns Europe, Japan and other nations are heading for disaster due to low birth rates.

I was invited to serve on the Advisory Board of a newly formed international organization called, “Stop Demographic Winter” to warn governments about the growing existential threat caused by the rapid decline of marriage and plummeting fertility rates worldwide.

Despite the dire threats of declining marriage and low birth rates, the SA government is forging ahead with its socially destructive agenda to abolish marriage between a man and a woman – the only union capable of propagating and sustaining the human race.

The gender-neutral single “Marriage Bill” is the single greatest threat to SA’s social and economic future. Abolishing man, woman marriage in law will have dire consequences for all people. Please speak up for the preservation of marriage at a public hearing near you.

  1. This new marriage law is against the Lords precepts- it will have terrible consequences if implemented.
The Lords back will be turned against South Africa and we will not be blessed.

  2. Aren’t these the signs of the Lord’s return. He said, I(the Lord) will give them over to the to a reprobate mind and love will go cold while evil will abound. Scripture is unfolding right in front of us, men and women burn with unnatural desires. Women lusting after women and men after men! We don’t condone any of these evil behaviors but marvel at the accuracy of His Word.
