South Africa observed ‘Women’s Day’ on 9 August – tragically, a country with some of the world’s highest rates of femicide, rape, sexual exploitation and abuse of women.
Politicians typically mount podiums during “Women’s Month” to pledge their allegiance to “women’s equality” and to “combat Gender-Based-Violence (GBV).” Sadly, however, the ANC regime’s empty platitudes achieved very little to improve the lot of women in SA.
“Women’s Month,” this year kicked off with more news of sickening atrocities against women. The gang rape of eight women at a photo-shoot in Krugersdorp and the hacking to death of two schoolgirls in KZN is a grim reminder we are not winning the battle against GBV.
Government’s standard response to these hideous crimes is to “allocate more funding to the fight against GBV.” But throwing more money at the problem will not work – primarily
because government ignores the root causes that fuel violence and abuse against women.
Despite women suffering intolerable rates of sexual exploitation, abuse and violence in SA, the ANC regime is forging ahead with plans to decriminalize the entire sex-industry – a trade proven to be the most abusive, degrading and mercilessly exploitative in the world.
Inexplicably, the “Gender-Equality Commission” – a chapter 9 institution tasked with promoting equality for women – welcomed the news of state-sanctioned sexual slavery.
In contrast, Julie Bindel, activist and author of “Abolishing the Sex-Work Myth,” writes, “prostitution is inherently abusive and a cause and a consequence of womens inequality.”
Decriminalized prostitution transforms pimps, brothel-owners and crime syndicates into legitimate businessmen. It validates and considerably expands the sex slave-trade. Essentially, a decriminalized sex-trade is a gift to pimps, brothel owners & crime syndicates.
In addition, research indicates the widespread availability of online pornography is a major contributor to the social degradation of women & child abuse. Porn addiction by increasingly younger males often correlate with the escalation of sexual crimes against women.
Women and children are paying the terrible price for governments mindless allegiance to “sexual rights” ideology. Abortion-on-demand, decriminalized prostitution and easy access to sexually degrading images are the three-headed-hydra that fuel rampant sexual exploitation and abuse – and deadly sexual crimes – against vulnerable women (and children).
The “sexual rights” ideology is the primary influencer in government’s plans to abolish man, woman marriage. As the ANC regime slavishly submits to this insanity, next to be redefined are woman (womxn) and mother (birthing persons). But it starts with gender-neutral marriage.
Tragically, the SA Police Service (SAPS) is riddled with corruption and incompetence. SAPS appears to lack the strategic vision to combat and end the spiraling crimes against women and children. The pompously inept Police Minister, Bheki Cele’s primary role appears to be dashing between crime-scenes to blame crime-weary citizens for policing failures.
South Africa is in a moral freefall. The Church must resist the temptation to build larger more comfortable sanctuaries in which to insulate from an increasingly depraved & hostile culture.
God commands His people to shine the light of His Truth even brighter in a dark society.
The good news is, Family Policy Institute’s international pro-family allies, the US based “Family Watch International” (FWI) and “The National Center on Sexual Exploitation” (NCOSE) partnered with the “Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation Africa” (CESE Africa) and the “Bureau of Market Research” at UNISA to host an international CESE Summit in SA.
The “Coalition to End Sexual Exploitation (CESE) 2022 Africa Summit” will commence at the Senate Hall at UNISA Campus in Tshwane/Pretoria (and online) 20 – 22 September 2022. Organizers assembled a stellar line-up of global experts in the fight to end sexual exploitation, the dangers of pornography, state-sanctioned prostitution and sex-trafficking.
I have been invited to deliver the keynote address at the Summit’s opening. I will present an overview of the battle against sexual exploitation and abuse of women and children and provide practical solutions (gleaned from my experiences) to end this scourge in SA.
A skilled FWI team will provide vital training for local activists to boost pro-life efforts in SA. Global experts will also share information and experiences to create public awareness and practical application to contribute to a collaborative approach across the African continent.
I extend an invitation to Church and civil-society leaders to join us at the “CESE Africa Summit” to be informed, educated and equipped for the critical battle ahead. Govt alone cannot end sexual exploitation and abuse in SA. You and I must join this noble fight.
