The world was horrified when videos of looting in SA spread like wildfire across the Globe. People thought that this is the end of South Africa. And although our economy took a huge blow and thousands were affected by the looting and the already back breaking Covid, the world saw something else happening in South Africa. The South African people came together and took to the streets and malls and worked as one team to clean up their towns. This act of unity inspired 3 youngsters to use their talents and write a song of hope and get people from all age groups, every colour and language, to sing and dance together to lift the atmosphere of doom over all nations. Humans will always overcome!! We just need to stand together and inspire each other to not lose hope.
Bernard Posthumus (17), Janis Kelber(19) and Stefan Kelber (16) came together and composed #HopeSong. Stefan wrote the song and Bernard & Janis took to the studio to record. They felt they needed a female voice to join and brought in their friend and wellknown singer/actress, Daniah de Villiers. But their vision spread much further than just a song. They wanted the world to dance to their tune and shake of the hopelessness of this very trying time the world is in. Singing and dancing creates joy, and joy brings hope! Pulse Empire joined the team to choreograph the dance routine and a challenge was put out to local youth groups & schools and before they knew it, other groups joined in. Firemen, construction workers and people from all levels of life and all over the globe are now dancing and challenging others to do the same over the next 80 days.
#HopeSong conveniently created a YouTube channel where one can find all the videos concerning this song including the step by step tutorial to the dance moves as well as the challenge to the world to get those feet dancing. All videos displaying the #Hopesong dance, will be loaded on TikTok.
We are only now officially launching #HOPESONG and it already has more than 12 500 views on YouTube. These youngsters are making waves.
