Opinion piece by Errol Naidoo
State attempts to control religion and its institutions were exposed by the recent shock resignation of Rev. Professor Musa Xulu as Chairperson of the Section 22 Committee that was launched with great fanfare on 2 Oct 2025 by the CRL Commission to ostensibly “regulate” the religious sector in South Africa to combat exploitation and abuse in religion.
Guided by Marxist ideology, the ANC is intent on transforming South Africa into a Socialist, Communist experiment where the state owns and controls every aspect of social life. The ANC’s close links with Chinese Communist Party, the Russian regime and the authoritarian dictatorships in Iran, Cuba and Venezuela contradict its claims of human rights defenders.
The Chapter 9, CRL Commission was established to protect the rights of cultural, religious, and linguistic communities. However, CRL Chairperson, Thoko Mkwanazi-Xaluva’s clear intention is to bring religious institutions under state control for its own nefarious purposes.
The fact that the CRL Commission set up and controls the Section 22 Committee – established as a “self-regulatory” body for the religious sector – reveals its true intent. The religious sector must establish its own regulatory body free of state interference to maintain its integrity. CRL’s meddling violates the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion.
The ANC’s Marxist agenda is unmasked by its manipulation of the democratic legislative process to erode and undermine God-given and God-defined institutions (and freedoms) like man, woman marriage, the natural family, parental authority, and religious freedoms.
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, who founded Marxist theory, viewed the nuclear family as a tool of capitalism and enemy of the working class. Monogamous marriage is considered an enemy of Marxism because it restricts sexual relationships and preserves the inter-generational dynamic. Man, woman marriage remains the cornerstone institution of society.
But the ANC views biblical marriage as religious influenced repression and therefore outdated. It formulated the gender-neutral single “Marriage Bill” to redefine monogamous marriage to include same-sex and transgender unions. This Bill fulfils the ANC’s Marxist dream for South Africa and simultaneously appeases LGBTQ and feminist demands.
Engels believed, “rather than the modern nuclear family, family tribal groups existed in groups where there were no restrictions on sexual relationships. This means that anyone could have sexual relations with anyone else in the tribal group, and multiple partners.”
Unsurprisingly, radical LGBTQ groups lobby aggressively at the UN and elsewhere to dismantle man, woman marriage and the natural family to legitimise total sexual license – that is, absolute zero sexual restrictions. Sexual rights ideology dominate European Union (EU) policy. This ideology signals the death of the natural family, which is the ultimate goal.
The ANC dutifully votes to include language in UN resolutions that define abortion-on-demand as a human right as well as recognising “all other forms of families.” Nations influenced by Marxism consistently reject the two-parent biological family as the natural and fundamental group unit of society. They believe children are the state’s responsibility.
That’s why the EU, the ANC and other leftist governments endorse state facilitated sexual indoctrination of minor children in education systems. “Comprehensive Sexuality Education” (CSE) and “Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity” (SOGI) are tools used to bypass parental authority to indoctrinate children with abortion and LGBTQ propaganda.
Total sexual license policies influenced by LGBTQ groups and facilitated by cultural Marxist governments in the EU and SA are evident in the commitment to legalise the entire sex-industry. This ideology view women as commodities for sale in an unregulated sex-slave trade in which the state profits off the sexual exploitation and abuse of vulnerable women.
The ANC connives with the foreign-funded “Sex Workers Education and Advocacy Taskforce” (SWEAT) to repeal the laws that criminalise the sale and purchase of sex in SA. SWEAT lodged a High Court application to strike down these laws to legitimise pimps, brothel owners & street gangs. The ANC refused to defend the laws on SA’s statute books.
Thankfully, however, the ANC and its allies in Iran, Cuba and Venezuela are crumbling. Pressure from the US government has exposed ANC criminality making it vulnerable to prosecution.
