Did you know that Cambodia has one of the youngest populations in Southeast Asia? More than 60% of its people are younger than 30. This opens great opportunities for the country’s economic growth, but more importantly, it puts youth ministry at the top of FEBA Cambodia’s priorities.

At the end of October, FEBA Cambodia partnered with New Life Fellowship Cambodia to host a two-day Youth Shine Conference in Steung Meanchey, historically one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Phnom Penh. The event sought to introduce Christian values, the hope of the gospel, and community to youth outside of the church.

Cambodia is regarded as the world’s “most Buddhist country”. More than 95% of the population practises Buddhism and the Constitution names it as the country’s official religion. This makes it all the more encouraging that the Youth Shine Conference drew 400 participants – of whom 280 were non-Christian!

The conference program included classes on life skills, leadership, relationships, and spiritual growth. In the evenings, there were panel discussions with four speakers, who shared their personal testimonies, practical insights, and biblical encouragement.

“This event strengthened relationships with churches and created new opportunities for ongoing discipleship and engagement,” the FEBA Cambodia team shared. “We also reached a wider audience by livestreaming the conference across our media platforms, allowing many more young people to join and be encouraged.”

In December 2024, FEBA Cambodia partnered with Youth with a Mission and other organisations for a 3-day outreach, where they were able to provide 300 impoverished families with food. The team also participated in a Christmas festival that drew over 10 000 attendees, and they distributed 500 radios to people who expressed an interest in following Christ.
