“And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.” – Rev 22:17
The name “Siloam Church” was given to us through a prophetic word in 2016. The word “Siloam” means “to send someone”. My wife, Elsie, her sister, her husband, and I had already started a house church in 2010 after we were all born again in 2009.
A family in ministry
Our family experienced a miraculous turning point that year, and my mother-in-law, Helen, played a significant role through her prayers. As a family with our own business, we ministered in our town, at camps, in prisons, and across Africa alongside various ministries. However, in 2016, we slowed down to focus on our ministry in Carletonville. We gathered once a week on Wednesday evenings.

Siloam becomes a congregation
In 2021, I started serving as a pastor at a large congregation in Potchefstroom. Around the same time, after receiving confirmation from the Lord and with the support of a mother congregation in Potchefstroom, Siloam Carletonville became its own congregation. However, the church needed a permanent shepherd. Earlier this year, while I was in Israel with JOY! Travel, the Lord called me to preach, and I felt an urgency to return to Siloam.
A new season for the pastoral couple
Elsie and I responded to the Lord’s call to Siloam. Leaving the congregation in Potchefstroom was not easy for us, as we love the church and its people deeply. We became members of the church in 2014, and I had been serving as an elder there since 2017. Our ordination as the pastoral couple of Siloam Church took place on the 1st of September. We look forward to this new chapter with the Lord. It is a growing congregation with many challenges ahead, including the construction of a new church building, as the current one is becoming too small due to the growth in the congregation.
‘What do you have?’
Once again, the Lord asked me, “What do you have?” – not “What do you need?” Just as He asked His disciples in John 6. I replied, “But Lord, what am I going to do with five loaves of bread and two fish?” As Andreas asked in John 6:9, “But what are they among so many?” However, little becomes much in Jesus’ Kingdom. Jesus never asks if you have enough – He asks what you have. “Lord, I only have myself to give You, and a piece of land with a small building, but what is that among so many?”
Siloam’s vision and mission
We are trusting the Lord for the finances to build a new church, and we believe He will provide. Our vision is to bring restoration to the people of Carletonville – those who are struggling physically and spiritually, and who do not fully understand the finished work of Jesus Christ. Our mission is to teach people about the Kingdom and to proclaim the whole truth, from Genesis to Revelation. Our aim is to expand Siloam Church in South Africa and take the full Word to the ends of the earth.
