The Constitutional Court heard arguments on 29 – 30 August regarding the constitutionality of the recently enacted “Electoral Amendment Act” – brought by the Independent Candidates Association (ICA) and One South Africa Movement (OSA). Both groups contend the Act does not provide independent candidates fair and equal access to contest the General Elections in 2024.
The ANC regime used its majority in Parliament to pass an amendment to the “Electoral Act” that favors political parties over independent candidates. This to ensure the failed governing party remains in power to continue its political malfeasance and brazen looting of tax-payers money.
In 2018, President Cyril Ramaphosa promised a corruption weary nation a “New Dawn.” Tragically, however, like all of Ramaphosa’s and the governing party’s promises, it failed to materialise. What South Africa did get was more corruption, crime, and gross maladministration.
Who can forget Ramaphosa’s assurance the R500 billion tax-payer funds allocated to “fight the Covid-19 emergency” would not be misappropriated? ANC officials (beginning in Ramaphosa’s office) immediately launched a staggering scheme of theft, fraud and money-laundering to siphon billions from the “emergency funds” while first responders and citizens suffered and died.
Despite Ramaphosa’s “New Dawn” promise, corruption, theft, fraud, money laundering, and the degradation of education, health and the economy worsened. The average citizen must now acknowledge the ANC is incapable of governing a modern democracy like South Africa. The sorry state of South Africa’s municipalities including energy and water supply is truly horrific.
Tragically, a 38 year old Butterworth mom stabbed her teenage daughter and gave her two younger children rat poison to kill them because she was so despondent from hunger and poverty. Bongeka Buso was so deep in debt she could not find any help or find a way out.
Contrast that with the regular reports of the lavish lifestyles of ANC bigwigs like Deputy President, Paul Mashatile, who lives in luxury mansions and dines at exclusive restaurants. Or the fact that the Durban Metro boss salary is increased to R3,9 million while the eThekwini municipality falls apart as a result of corruption, gross incompetence and zero service delivery.
The ANC regime is also not governing the country in accordance with the will of the people. It actually governs according to the will of UN agencies, abortion and LGBTQ pressure groups and leftist billionaires. The democratic processes of Parliament are manipulated and distorted by the ANC majority to advance its narrow ideological agenda, despite clear public dissatisfaction.
The draft single “Marriage Bill” is a case in point. The majority of SA citizens oppose redefining man, woman marriage and legalizing group “marriages” (polyamory). But UN agencies have demanded this along with the sexualization of minor children in the education system and legalising the entire sex industry to legitimize the sale and purchase of vulnerable women.
The ANC’s close ties with the totalitarian Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the Marxist regime in Cuba reveals much about its true identity and agenda. Its empty claims about promoting the dignity, equality and human rights of citizens would be hilarious if wasn’t so awfully tragic.
Much was written about Ramaphosa’s successful negotiations at the Brics Summit. Ironically, his success on the global stage only serves to emphasise his domestic failures. China offered loans and expertise to help with SA’s energy woes. But at what price? Will it eventually own Eskom?
The writing is on the wall for South Africa. If the Church and civil-society do not work together to rescue the country from another five years of ANC misrule, there will be little left to salvage. South Africa needs bold, decisive and courageous leadership if its going to survive post 2024.
The new “Electoral Amendment Act” may help in some ways. But if Church and civil-society leadership do not take this threat seriously, the nations outlook looks bleak. SA experienced a miracle in 1994. We can again in 2024 if we intensify our prayers and actions for real change now!
