Early November, 39 motorcycles set out on a historic 6-day mission to take Bibles to schools scattered across the North West province, Northern Cape, and Free State.
The Word Riders is a group of Christian motorcyclists who, under the auspices of the Bible Society of South Africa, distribute Bibles to Grade 7 learners in certain, dedicated parts of South Africa annually. This distribution of Bibles, among other things, forms part of the Bible Society of South Africa’s Bibles for Grade 7 learners project.

It was historic for three main reasons: because it was the 10th annual run of the Word Riders – a ministry project of the Bible Society of South Africa; because it was happening during the 200th birthday year of the society; and because it took place at all in this year of Covid-19.
This year, in its tenth tour, challenges emerged – typical of the year we have had. Yet, in overcoming these, many individuals in the team were encouraged in their faith and together were able to distribute more Bibles than ever before, a total of 6 010. Furthermore, they spread the Good News and the message of the life-giving Word to learners at more than 70 schools.
