A statement of support on behalf of thousands of South Africans has been handed over to the office of the Chief Justice, Mogoeng Mogoeng.
The statement includes the hundreds of supportive messages and prayers that emerged from a petition to the President of South Africa, presently signed by 122 thousand people.
The initiators of the statement, The International Christian Embassy of Jerusalem (ICEJ), Bridges For Peace, and South African Friends of Israel, (SAFI), are also organising countrywide prayer vigils.

The statement stands in opposition to groups that seek to censure and silence Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng on his remarks about his Biblical love for Israel alongside the peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
ICEJ Director, Vivienne Myburgh said, “The Chief Justice is also subject to the Constitution of which he is custodian, therefore he too can freely express his personal opinion.
It’s irrational that our government chooses to support recognised terrorist entities such as Hamas which offers South Africans nothing whilst rejecting Israel’s numerous aid offers – aid that is now benefitting many African countries from Ethiopia and Ghana to our close neighbours Eswatini and Malawi. Even the Arab countries are now recognising the value of supporting Israel.”
