The ANC’s crumbling criminal empire now appears irreversible. Its massive debt problems and the exposure of its dark and putrid web of deceit has set it on a course of certain demise. The deterioration of the once celebrated liberation movement took just 30 years.
The decline accelerated when Jacob Zuma became president in 2009. The Zuma -Ramaphosa regime presided over the State Capture years when South Africa’s democratic institutions were hollowed out, enabling the unprecedented looting of tax-payer funds.
To understand the true extent of State Capture, debt-servicing costs rose from R54.3 billion in 2008/09 (when Zuma/Ramaphosa took office) to R385.6 billion in the 2024/25 financial year. Government now spends more on debt-servicing interest than on education.
Ramaphosa was elected president in 2018 on a wave of Ramaphoria and the promise of a “New Dawn.” What SA got was State Capture 2.0 under the guise of Black Economic Empowerment (BEE). Ramaphosa’s absent leadership intensified the looting frenzy.
The BEE scam is exposed for what it is. Baxolile Nodada writes, “BEE has not focused on eliminating poverty and creating jobs. Instead, a small politically connected elite has used the country’s apartheid legacy to shake down businesses, damaging economic growth and deterring new investment.” Economic data overwhelmingly supports Nodada’s claims.
Now the DA, the second largest political party in the Government of National Unity (GNU), released its “Public Procurement Amendment Bill” that targets the ANC’s BEE raced-based policies with an empowerment model that focuses on poverty as a proxy for disadvantage – not race. The ANC misused public procurement to enrich a politically connected few.
As a result of the BEE scam, almost half the population is totally depended on welfare grants. Economic growth stagnated over the past decade, deepening poverty. Despite 31 years of ANC rule, the Household Index indicates, 64.2 percent of black South Africans live below an upper poverty line of R1,634 per person per month – almost 30 million people.
The ANC’s failures are evident everywhere. Despite this, it continues to use alleged “transformational” policies like “Expropriation Without Compensation” (EWC) and the “National Health Insurance Act” (NHI) to convince a sceptical public it cares. However, experts warn the NHI is unaffordable and Ramaphosa himself admits EWC is unworkable.
The ANC’s BEE and EWC policies are the reasons it cannot secure a trade deal with the US. The non-racial, non-sexist ANC government has more than 140 race-based laws on its statute books. And its racist policies are partly responsible for SA’s economic woes.
The ANC’s aims and objectives are, “creating a united non-racial, non-sexist democratic society and uplifting the quality of life of all South Africans especially the poor.” But in reality, because of greed, incompetence and corruption, the ANC created a race-obsessed mafia-state where ANC cadres prosper and millions of poor suffer in misery and squalor.
The Zondo Commission revelations exposed State Capture atrocities. But Ramaphosa refused to implement the Commission’s recommendations to avoid a repeat. What SA got instead was State Capture 2.0 – as a direct result of his weak and spineless leadership.
Caryn Dolley warns about ongoing state capture. The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry into police corruption and the parliamentary ad-hoc committee inquiry into corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system – reveals the true extent of the rot.
ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula insists his party is “infiltrated” by criminals. However, most ANC officials are under investigation for corruption – including him. The nepotism scandal at City Power refutes his claims. Corruption and mismanagement of JHB’s power utility by ANC cadres resulted in a staggering monthly loss of R200 million.
The assassinations of whistle-blowers and investigators of ANC corruption have become a regular occurrence in SA. An Ekurhuleni metro auditor, Mpho Mafole was assassinated recently after submitting a report that exposed corruption in a chemical toilet tender.
ANC crimes against the people and its links with rogue regimes and terrorist groups are being exposed nationally and globally almost weekly. Its decline is irreversible. Keep praying for SA. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
