In 1988, during a dry and challenging season in my life and ministry as a newly appointed leader, I came to a clear realisation: only God could carry us through. In response, I pressed in deeper with Him. That season led me into a focused search of Scripture, discovering who God is and how He reveals Himself to humanity. What began as a disciplined prayer habit became a way of life. I started praying a shorter version of the material in The Prayer Roadmap – and I have never stopped. Praying through the Names of God transformed me so deeply that it became a roadmap, guiding me into the heart of the Father.
Discovering the Names of God
We are all familiar with roadmaps and GPS systems. They give direction, help us navigate new territory, and bring purpose to the journey. Without names, however, a map becomes meaningless – direction without clarity. In the same way, The Prayer Roadmap reveals how God made Himself known through His Names to those who walked with Him in Scripture. Their encounters awaken faith, stir spiritual hunger, and invite us into deeper intimacy with God.
Prayer as a way of life
Jesus called His disciples to seek the Father “who is in secret”. There is a depth of relationship waiting for those who respond to daily prayer. Prayer is not an emergency tool – it is a steering wheel. It is not merely a lifeline, but a lifestyle. Prayer prepares us for life and shapes what follows. It is one of the clearest ways we express our love for God daily.
Desire, discipline, and delight
Spiritual growth follows a pattern: desire, discipline, and delight. We may desire intimacy with God, but without discipline, it will not develop. Consistency in prayer leads to lasting spiritual joy. As one mentor said, “If your outflow exceeds your inflow, your upkeep will be your downfall.” This is especially true in prayer. When prayer decreases, spiritual strength weakens. Prayerlessness often leads to powerlessness.
A practical prayer resource
One of the oldest practices in Scripture is calling on the Name of the Lord. This book explores 92 names of the Godhead, each revealing a unique aspect of God’s character. As you pray through these names daily, your understanding and love for God will grow. In addition, The Prayer Roadmap introduces Biblical prayer models that help bring structure, depth, and meaning to your prayer life.
A vision for believers
Over the past four years, this book has been developed to help believers and churches grow in daily prayer and deeper intimacy with God. Used consistently, it can lead to spiritual renewal and awakening. This vision also extends to equipping churches through a “School of Prayer”, helping believers grow in confidence and consistency in their walk with God.
