All around the world, Christians are turning to Christ amidst a time of worldwide panic. We know that Jesus is our healer and our protector. Questions arise over the topic of travelling, especially going on pilgrimages and tours to Israel / Turkey to see the Holy Land. Is God still in control? Is it His will for us to travel? Should we have faith and no action? The Biblical answer is that our faith should always be accompanied by action. There are things that we can do, after we have prayed and turned to the Word, that will help us as the international travel restrictions ease up.

The following are a few FAQ’s:

Q. Should I be afraid to travel?
The Coronavirus is nothing to take lightly. However, it is also nothing to panic about. We remain steadfast in our Father’s Word, His will, and His way. If you are planning to travel, it is essential that you do your research first, and then put measures in place to travel safely. Ensure that you are travelling with airlines where the safest hygiene is a top priority. Travel with airlines that use powerful air filters to purify the air, and that have staff who are well prepared should anything present itself.

Q. What precautions should I take to prevent the Coronavirus?
Ensure that you boost your immune system daily because God has given our bodies the ability to fight disease – provided that we take good care of our immune system. Use sanitisers often and stay calm, as God is in Control (Psa 91). Fear and stress lower the immune system. Washing hands with hot soapy water or using an alcohol-based sanitiser after visiting any places where other people have visited is essential. Also, avoid anti-inflammatory drugs as they are a known risk for people with infectious illnesses as they can decrease the response of the body’s immune system.

Q. What about travelling in a confined space with travellers that sneeze or touch me?
In times of this pandemic, it would be advisable to wear masks when travelling in crowded public spaces. It is also advisable to use an immune booster, as viruses only attach to an acidic(pH) environment. Dentists are also recommending to rinse mouths with an oxidative rinse, which will reduce the salivary load of oral microbes. Drink lots of water and remain hydrated.

Q. I am asthmatic, should I be scared about travelling?
Asthmatic people has always travelled. Just to be safe, always ensure to have your prescribed medicine with you and apply the same rules as prescribed during this pandemic. Again, look after your immune system to prevent illness.

Q. I am over 70 in high risk age, should I still be travelling?
For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, there is a higher risk for more severe illnesses, such as pneumonia. However, the majority of patients do recover. With the knowledge that we have so far, it seems that most of the passings have been among people whose health was already compromised. The elderly are advised to know their health conditions, seek advice from a medical doctor, and remain faithful, not fearful.

The Bible says that our faith should always be accompanied by action.

Q. What should I take to build my immune system?
It is a fact that most viruses and all physiological processes in the body are pH sensitive. Coronavirus infectivity is exquisitely sensitive to pH levels. For example, the MHV-A59 strain of coronavirus is quite stable at pH 6.0 (acidic), but becomes rapidly and irreversibly inactivated by brief treatment at pH 8.0 (alkaline). Addressing the Covid-19 strain, it is advisable to keep your body in an alkaline environment. No fungi, virus, or bacteria can exist in a well-oxygenated (alkaline) body. All viruses and bacteria that cause bronchitis and colds thrive in acidic environments.

Q. Will it be safe for me to eat the hotel food?
The coronavirus is new and health officials around the world admit they are still in the learning phase. Meaning, at this point, they don’t know everything that there is to know about the illness. They do know that it spreads primarily through respiratory droplets. For example, if someone coughs or sneezes near you and you are hit with a droplet, you could get sick. If screening takes place everywhere as indicated by WHO, it will minimise the risk. Reputable hotels around the world will be extra cautious with regards to health and sanitisation.

Q. Should I take Vitamin C?
While Vitamin C has not been tested against coronavirus until recently, previous research has already established its effectiveness against other types of viral infections, such as influenza. In a further development, the Shanghai Medical Association (SMA) in China has published a consensus on the comprehensive treatment of the coronavirus disease. Based on the study that was developed by 30 experts in the treatment of new coronavirus pneumonia, it recommends high-dose Vitamin C for even light infection with the virus. The dose recommended in the consensus is 50 to 100 mg per kilogram of bodyweight per day. For severe and critically ill patients, up to 200 mg per kilogram of bodyweight per day is advised, injected intravenously.
