“Protect Religious Freedoms”, an international organisation working at the United Nations (UN) to defend and protect religious freedoms across the world, appealed to Family Policy Institute (FPI) to help stop a new report issued by Ahmed Shaheed, the radical UN Special Rapporteur on Religious Freedoms or Beliefs, titled, “Promotion and protection of all human rights, civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, including the right to development.”
The UN Report urges governments worldwide to legalise abortion, eliminate conscience clauses for medical professionals, mandate dangerous Comprehensive Sexuality Education beginning at age 10, and legalise controversial LGBTQ special rights – ironically, all under the banner of “promoting religious freedoms.” This erroneous Report will be presented to the UN General Assembly on 20 October 2020 and must be opposed.
Family Policy Institute was recently granted ‘Special Consultative Status’ at the United Nations in New York and Geneva. FPI is also a member of the “UN Family Rights Caucus”, a global pro-family network working tirelessly to defend and protect the sanctity of life, marriage, the natural family, parental and children’s rights and protections and religious freedoms. We need your urgent participation to oppose and defeat the diabolical agenda of global abortion and sexual rights radicals at the UN.
There are three ways you can help us stop this Report from gaining traction.
- Please sign the citizens Petition calling on UN Member States to reject the Report. Please also share this appeal and encourage others to sign it.
- If you are a religious leader please sign the “religious leader sign on letter.” Alternatively, please forward this appeal to your Pastor(s) and ask him/them to sign the letter.
- If you lead an organisation, please join this campaign as a partner.
We have one week to collect as many signatures as possible. This is a global campaign. Our allies across the world are working hard to encourage their governments to reject this radical and harmful Report. Please go to protectreligiousfreedoms.org to sign the Petition or Letter.
The Department of Home Affairs confirmed it will proceed with its “Single Marriage Policy” agenda. Minister Aaron Motsoaledi met with Chapter 9 institutions including UN agency, UNICEF in August 2019. Following this meeting, government launched its new marriage policy that will abolish the Biblical ideal of marriage and replace it with several counterfeit options.
South Africa currently has three marriage laws. The Marriage Act of 1961 for monogamous heterosexual marriage, the Customary Marriages Act of 1998 for polygamous marriage and the Civil Unions Act of 2006 that regulates monogamous partnerships for same-sex and opposite sex couples.
Sexual rights activists argue three separate marriage laws discriminate against certain groups. Their real objection however is that the Civil Union Act was specifically enacted to regulate same-sex partnerships, suggesting their unions are not equal with monogamous heterosexual marriage.
UN agencies like UNICEF, UNESCO and others are championing the global sexual rights agenda in South Africa. Their primary targets are marriage and the natural family. The aim of the “Single Marriage Policy” is to abolish the Biblical ideal of marriage by providing citizens a smorgasbord of humanistic options that do not constitute marriage at all. If marriage is anything – then marriage is nothing. This is the ultimate goal of sexual rights radicals.
Under the current laws, religious marriage officers are not compelled to solemnise same-sex partnerships. However, this will change with the “Single Marriage Policy.” One over-arching marriage act regulating various options means they are all equally valid. I suspect polyamory (group marriage) is also on the cards under the new policy. The media is already promoting it.
