President Cyril Ramaphosa telephonically discussed “bilateral trade matters” with US President Donald Trump on 6 August – hours before the 30% tariffs kicked in. The Presidency claims “there is still room to reach a trade agreement between the US & SA”.
However, what Ramaphosa is not admitting is that he is fully aware of the pre-conditions set by the Trump administration to secure a mutually beneficial US/SA trade deal. These pre-conditions include BEE, securing property rights, condemning “kill the boer” chants and declaring farm murders a priority crime. Out-of-control corruption is also a major issue.
Ramaphosa is currently presiding over the most corrupt, incompetent and criminal government in SA’s 31-year democracy. The US government knows this as well. The theft, tender-fraud, money-laundering and racketeering by ANC cadres and those linked to the ANC criminal enterprise – is truly mind-boggling. An estimated R4 trillion has been stolen.
Independent Development Trust (IDT) CEO, Tobogo Malaka attempted to bribe a journalist investigating the R800 million fraud she is implicated in. A contractor who won a R60 million IDT tender contributed millions to Malaka’s mansion in an upmarket suburb.
The Government Pensions Administration Agency (GPAA) commits almost R1billion to a fictitious building lease. The GPAA CEO, Kedibone Madiehe reportedly fraudulently approved the tender awarded to Shula Developers for a building it doesn’t own.
A senior ANC official, Thanduxolo Sandelo’s wives were awarded a R2,9 billion tender in the National School Nutrition Program. This while dozens of children are dying from hunger in SA and an estimated 8 million children’s growth are stunted because of malnutrition.
Instead of aggressively combating the rampant corruption in his party, Ramaphosa opts to waste R700 million on a farcical “National Dialogue” to give the impression he cares – he does not. Several foundations have pulled out of the talk shop farce because its “rushed.”
Ramaphosa has failed South Africa dismally. The economy is stagnant, corruption remains rampant, the police service is in crisis, crime soars and unemployment is at record levels.
Ramaphosa knows what must be done to turn SA around. But he is paralyzed by his bankrupt Marxist ideology and his allegiance to rogue totalitarian regimes. He must resign.
Arlene and I depart for the US on 19 August. We will spend the next 3 months in Los Angeles (LA) to provide family support to my son, Jared and his wife, Missy whose second child is expected 28 Aug. They have a two-year old daughter. We return to SA on 3 Dec.
Jared is studying for his ‘Master of Divinity’ degree at “The Masters Seminary” in LA. He works part-time to fund his studies and support his family. As a result, Arlene and I will relocate Family Policy Institute’s base of operations to LA and continue our work remotely.
The FPI team in Cape Town will monitor events in South Africa and keep us updated regularly. However, because all our work is online including meetings – FPI’s work will not be effected at all. We will use this opportunity to strengthen FPI’s international alliances.
I plan to achieve several objectives during our stay in the US. First, I will meet with FPI’s pro-family allies in the US to strengthen strategic partnerships and secure co-hosting financial commitments from major pro-family organizations for the proposed “ACPF Pan-African Conference on Family Values” scheduled to be held in Cape Town in May 2027.
The ACPF Conference will gather prominent pro-family organizations from across Africa, the US and Europe to focus attention on the assault on faith, family and religious freedoms in South Africa. This assembly will formulate policy alternatives for stronger and stable marriages, families and child protection. It will be the largest such event in SA’s democracy.
Second, I will travel to the UN HQ in New York in Sept to bolster the vital work of the “UN Family Rights Caucus.” Most of the threats against marriage, family, child protection and religious freedoms originate at the UN. FPI’s voice is therefore critical at this global body.
From there I will travel to Washington DC to meet with prominent conservative leaders to request their assistance with the challenges we currently face in SA. I have developed strategic relationships with key leaders in the US over the past 18 years of FPI’s ministry.
Please commit to pray for Arlene and I and the vital work of FPI in South Africa and internationally. We extend our deep gratitude and appreciation to our financial partners in this ministry. We simply cannot do what we do without your critical and loyal support.
Please continue to pray, and partner with us. The next five months is critical for the unique opportunities we have to advance our Bible-based agenda in South Africa. God bless you.
